Red Oak, Straight Side, Mechanical Punch press
Wooden Mechanical Straight Side Punch Press(Back Geared) The press is all wooden except for screws. Bushings, and electrical components. The corners of the press are made from Poplar. The bull gear is made from Baltic Birch Plywood so that gear teeth do not chip so easily. The rest of the press is made from Red Oak. The press's crank shaft is all wooden. It does NOT have a clutch or an actual counterbalance. It also does NOT have a slide adjustment. The press's drive is hard geared together. This press is ARTWORK. It is NOT a toy, and is not able to handle an actual load. The counterbalance rods do slide up& down in the cylinders but they do not compress actual air. The press also has two momentary buttons that have to be pressed at the same time to actuate the machine as to mimic palm buttons. I made that as a joke) I began cutting ... moreout the press on Jan. 1. 2015 and finished Feb. 15 2015. I have a lot of time into it. I did not model it after any one particular machine but it does have the characteristics of many punch presses. I did not make this from a kit and I did not make this in mass quantity, I only made one. The press is an original hand made animated machine and it is a one and only! Build pictures of the press will be provided on a thumb drive and shipped with the machine. The Ram of the press does cycle up and down and is animated by a 12 volt motor. The motor turns a flywheel by belt which turns a pinion and bull gear which turns the crankshaft that reciprocates the ram up& down. The bull gear DOES have a slight wobble and the ram is off a little on the side to side but the machine runs very well. I cut it out of wood. what do you expect? The press itself weighs 10.2 lbs. It is 19.5" tall. 12 1/8 wide and 9" in depth. The press requires 8 AA Batteries which are not included. Shipping Insured and Sign for is mandatory. No Refunds.
