It's one of those that apply to the saying"they don't make em' like that anymore! The press spent it's entire life in a high school tech classroom and was well taken care of. At some point the mast clamp for the work table underwent a successful repair(pictured) As for testing the press. it's 3/4 hp. 230/460V( presently wired for 230v) 3 phase motor was very responsive on start up. And I found it quite capable of quickly drilling a 1/2" hole through a 3/4" thick steel plate. The quill feed handle rotated freely in both directions and had ample recoil strength at it's present setting(the recoil spring tension is adjustable) The belt and pulleys are in good condition as well. ... moreOverall the drive seemed a little loud and I'm not sure why because everything rotates smooth, is well lubricated and it all feels snug. so what seemed loud might simply be its nature but I am not sure about that. An AC Tech(USA) Variable Frequency Drive(VFD) has been added to give infinite speed control. The combination of variable belt drive with the VFD gives superior speed range AND excellent torque. POWERMATIC Model 45 Gap Bed Variable Speed Wood Woodworking Lathe
Up for sale is this Powermatic model 45 wood lathe. This lathe has a single phase 220V motor with the optional variable speed drive. This is the gap bed model which has a swing of 16 inches. The unit runs but will need to have the cord replaced as it is frayed. The condition of this is good but I see the tool post has been brazed and the cabinet door needs to be straigntened. The variable speed drive works but might need adjusting. Also included is a chip shield that bolts to the back of the lathe. I have a maintenance& parts manual that goes with this. This is no cheap China lathe. This was made in America and is 400+ pounds. These lathes are very desirable for their quality build.

Powermatic 12" disc sander with pedestal good condition. The table is in good shape and tilts as it should. It is single phase so it can plug into any home shop outlet. I will not ship unless you hire someone to crate it and pick it up. I do have a way to load it into a truck. The pictures show all that there is with the machine. The switch has a little buzz to it but when I took it to a Powermatic service center they said that this is normal. I have not used the machine since I bought it because I have even larger disk sanders. It came out of a lightly used single man guitar maker woodshop. It is a great machine ready to work.
