Vintage Stanley Jointer Plane 21 1/2" Corrugated Unrestored Jack USA 2 1/4" Very Nice Vintage Stanley Jointer Plane Model. This plane is in excellent mechanical condition. It has not been restored. Or altered. There are no markings I could see on the body, only the Stanley logo you see pictured on the top edge of the blade. The blade is in super sharp condition with a length of 7 3/8" if that helps anything. The wood handle and grip still has the lacquer coating with some small chips, but there are no cracks. Brass screws hold them to the body. The corrugated bottom is also very nice. I would consider the use as light, as there are very few minor abrasions. I have owned this plane for 30 years and maybe used it 3 or 4 times, so I got it it in virtually the same condition as you see. The majority of the finish has a patina from ... moreage, but there is no rust or pitting worth mention. Everything is tight and smooth, and adjustments are easy. The black areas are the original coating. There are a few places where the paint has peeled away. This plane has not been dropped or damaged. There are no dings on any of the edges, noses, tips, tail, or bottom. There is a 418 and a 422 stamped under the blade clamp. Will make a very nice workmate. Model- Stanley Jointer Plane. Up for sale is this No. 7 jointer plane. I'm not sure of the brand due to the iron is not the original and the writing on the lateral adjusting lever is worn to the point were it cannot be read. It measures 21 1/2" long and is 3" wide. The bottom was checked with a straight edge and does not appear to be warped. The tote and knob are great shape with no cracks. Everything looks to be original except the cutting iron. The original iron was pitted to the point were it could not be saved or able to read the maker. Stanley Bailey No.8c Jointer Plane
This plane is a type 9 which dates between 1902 and 1907. As you can see from the pictures it's in very good condition. I would estimate it still has between 85% to 90% of the original japanning left on the bed. The rosewood tote and knob are both in excellent condition. The knob does have what looks like a joint line running down one side from top to bottom. But it's solid with absolutely no movement. The plane has been cleaned, oiled and waxed. The iron has been freshly sharpened and is ready to use.

Here, we have the Belt Guard for a DELTA Milwaukee 6" Jointer which is mounted on an Open Stand. ~~ This item is in really good condition. There's some paint loss, but I don't see any significant dings. Or bends. The two halves fit together very nicely. ~* ~ There's one spot. Where a belt/ pulley had worn through the front cover. see photo#4) If you were facing the inside, of the outer(front) cover. On the bottom(larger) end; just a little right of center. The guard must've been mounted off- center to do this. It's actually hard to find; you have to look for it. This small defect does not affect the stability. Or structural integrity. Antique D.R. BARTON 28" jointer plane. This is the biggest plane I have ever seen and held. It is HUGE! Measures 28" long x 3-1/8" high x 3-1/2" wide. It weighs 9lb 12oz! Stamped on the front and on the cutter D.R.BARTON& CO. ROCHESTER. N.Y. Bottom is in great shape and the blade is sharp. In original condition. Other than wiping the dust off, I have not cleaned this. Owner initials IE on this tool. From an estate in Abbotsford, Wisconsin. This was part of the largest handmade toolbox that I have ever seen. This box was 5 feet long, 3-1/2 feet high and over 3 feet wide with compartments for each of the tools. This toolbox was taken to the site for a new barn build and contained the tools used to build it. It probably weighed almost 150 pounds full! Used from the late 1800's until the early 1940's to build barns ... morein Central Wisconsin, these tools are all in original condition. The tools were sold separately from the toolbox. I bought 11 of them(see the last picture) and I am listing them at 5 minute intervals with no reserve. Antique STANLEY# 7 jointer plane. I believe this is a Type 6 because of the patent dates on the lateral adjuster. 22" long with a 2-3/8" cutter. Marked with patent date 12-24-67. Lateral adjuster has patent dates of 2-8-76; 10-21-84; and 7-24-88. I believe this type was only made from 1888-1890. Also has BAILEY'S PATENT AUG. 31. 1858 AUG. 6, 1867 stamped on the brass adjusting knob. Weighs over 6 pounds. In original condition. Other than wiping the dust off, I have not cleaned this. There's some pieces missing from the set up bars. The motor was junk and I didn't have one to fit it. turns freely forward but stiffens up when you turn it backwards. must not be made to go that way. It has a aluminum handle on the big pulley not original. I sprayed it with a dry film lube to keep it from rusting. I soaked it to remove all rust and did a basic sharpening of the blade to test the plane. Other than normal wear for a tool this old. I do not see any damage and was honed as a smoother but blade could be cambered to use as a scrub. As you can see by the test shavings. it works. Stanley Gage # G7 "self setting" jointer plane made between 1924 - 1930
Up for auction is a nice Stanley Gage# G7 self setting jointer plane that I bought at an estate auction years ago. The plane is the same size as a regular Stanley# 7 bench plane. The plane was made sometime between 1924 1930. Here is a little history on the plane from the"Virginiatoolworks" website: John Porcius Gage formed the Gage Tool Co. in 1883. And operated it until 1917, making wood bottom transitional planes. J.P. Gage registered plane patents on 4 August 1885, 13 April 1886 and 8 November 1892. The 30 January 1883 patent of David A. Ridges was also used. The Gage“self-setting” design eliminated the need for a lateral adjustment feature. Which eliminated slop in the blade movement. The adjustment slide was designed to accurately fit into a groove in the frog, and depth adjustment was controlled by a screw at the rear of ... morethe frog, similar to a low angle block plane. The two-piece lever cap design also functioned as a chipbreaker. The outer part of the cap serves as the lever cap, with the inner piece functioning as a chipbreaker. The mechanism is adjustable via a two-screw slide to bring it closer to the edge of the blade. The self setting feature allowed the cutter and cap to be removed and reinstalled without adjustment of the cut. In 1919 Stanley Rule& Level Co. bought the Vineland NJ company. Mainly to get the patent for their excellent frog design and to compete with Sargent’s Auto-Set line of planes that are very similar in both appearance and design. Stanley retained the use of the Gage name, producing a line of transitional planes from 1919 to 1935, and metal Gage planes from 1919 to about 1941, when the line was phased out. I have been restoring and using bench planes for many years. Here is what I did to this one: 1. Sole/body The sole and sides on this plane were trued on a flat surface up to 220 grit. Paste wax was then applied. All machined surfaces were also trued. The original Japanning is in pretty good shape. So I just cleaned it with 0000 steel wool and mineral spirits. As y
