It produced high quality instruments that are still in demand today. I am guessing that this micrometer is from the early 1930's. It weighs 6 oz. and everything- thimble, lock, and ratchet- all works well. Since this is a vintage model, it does have pitting and discoloration, but not on the spindle, just on the thimble and body. Somewhere in its history, an owner stamped in a small discrete name or logo on the front. Carefully look at the photos to be sure that you will be satisfied with this unit.

I am putting the listing as for parts or not working. But it may indeed work, or possibly tore down for a good cleaning or only needs minor repair. Not sure if it needs repair. Or if it should be used for parts. A persons name is buffed into the back of the blade. It has the original case. Dry-ish foam padding inside, and bumpy exterior texture. I can feel one area catch as I turn the adjustment at 15.5 on the scale on the ruler. Not sure if it all works perfectly. I am not familiar with these and it is old and is made in Germany. Everything seems to work. I can go through the whole range it will begin at zero and end at zero if I first turn the round dial to make the needle rest at zero. I don't know what the 5 minutes means, but that's how it's marked. It's also marked" BS 510" Probably made of stainless steel, it's in excellent condition, but can use some shining. The fitted box is in in very poor condition, but not too bad on the inside. It's about 7 X 11 inches. The protractor is about 10 inches long at it's longest point. Included in this auction is a COMPLETE surface measurement system using SurfCOM apparatus. This is the same system that has been sold under Tokyo Seimitsu as well as Brown and Sharpe nameplates as is the case here. The system makes use of a compliment of sensors. The SurfCOM digital processor and head, as well as a printer, inductive readout, and a reference surface(table) Although the system is used. It is in excellent operating condition and has been checked against a couple of standards. It is clean and all components for normal operation are provided. What is*not* provided is any sort of documentation. A quick internet search should yield a variety of user manuals from either Brown and Sharpe or Seimitsu as these systems were commonly referenced in machining and quality control texts and demonstration articles. In either case. Surface ... moreanalysis to this day is not a"plug and play" science; as such, this system requires as certain measure of knowledge to make full use of. When produced new. This system sold for well over $20,000 and with the shown components, probably was closer to $30,000. From what I've seen, replacement parts are still relatively easy to come by(as evidenced by the number of complete systems and components available right now on Ebay alone) Shipping should be freight on this set of about 105 pounds of components; however. We will package the components separately and ship it as multiple smaller packages. The features and graduation markings on each tool vary slightly depending on the manufacturer. Center Gages are useful when grinding drills and setting screw cutting tools. All the tools have graduation markings. The Starrett model is a number 391. The BROWN& SHARPE model is number 650. Both of the gages are cut to the standard of 60 degrees.
