Here is a pair of steady rests for a machine lathe. Perhaps an Atlas Craftsman. Both are in excellent shape and only some minor signs of wear. Overall dimensions are 6 3/4 ionches tall for the 3 point one and about 5 1/2 for the other one. the 3 point has a part number M6-326 and the other one is M6-896. Perhaps they go the a 6 inch lathe. Atlas Craftsman machine lathe x-y table compound cross feed low start & no res
Here is a good condition X- Y compound cross feed. I am guessing it came from an Atlas Craftsman 9 inch lathe because the distance from the table top to the end of the cutter is about 4 1/2 inches. It measures approx. 12 x 10 inches. I ran both X and Y through the full travel. The one handle seems to have one arm broken off. See pictures. Another very similar item on ebay now has the same handle broken in the same place. Design fault or common owner modification? The unit would benefit from a good cleaning as the adjustments are a bit stiff. It weighs 13.5 lbs. I am not very knowledgeable on machine lathes so feel free to ask any question as I am sure i have left some vital information out. See my other auctions for other related items. Boring Bar Tool post Metal Lathe Machinist Southbend Atlas Craftsman Clausing Lo
Nice boring bar toolpost with holes for 3/16"1/4" 5/16" 3/8"bars. Comes with 1 boring bar as you see in pictures. Previous owner was a retired toolmaker with a Southbend lathe and a Clausing lathe. I am not sure which lathe this came off of but like any toolpost you will purchase there is a chance you will have to modify or remake the plate to fit you carriage. It is not a very big piece of metal to make and can be done with a file by even a novice so please do not ask me to measure this one to see if you can just put it in your lathe. Here is a complete and all original steady rest from a 10 Atlas metal Lathe. This one has the correct bottom clamp wich many do not. Nice condition. no damage. The lathe was owned by an old man who bought it new. He took great care of it and only used it for a hobby lathe. Shipping on the steady rest will be $13.99 in the lower 48 states. I have Union 4 jaw chuck that came with this lathe that was only mounted on the lathe 2 times for about 15 minutes. it is super tight and you will never find another with that little use. The lathe has a 110 volt motor and is equipped with a 5" 3 Jaw Chuck, a 6" 3 jaw chuck, and a 6" Atlas 4 Jaw Chuck. It also has a tool post and a drill chuck, as shown in the picture.
