96 Tooth Change Gear 9" Atlas Craftsman Metal Lathe (or 10" 12") 96T
96 Tooth change gear from a 9" Atlas Craftsman metal lathe. This gear has a 3/4" ID bore and an ~0.33" thick center hub. My understating is that this is thinner than the center hub on the 10" or 12" lathes but that these gears will also work with those lathes. You might need to fabricated a spacer for that application. I've had this for a while. But don't know what lathe it goes to. I have not been able to find any markings or numbers, but the casting and style looks to be VERY old. The distance from the middle of the notch on the bottom to the center of the other flat part where the rest sits on the lathe bed is approx. 4" The total width of the bottom is approx. 4 5/8" The height looks to be correct for a lathe with a 9" swing If you happen to know what this fits. VINTAGE ELGIN HARDINGE ATLAS LATHE COMPOUND CROSS SLIDE SPLIT BED GOOD CONDITION
This is a vintage Elgin Tool Works lathe compound in good condition. The dovetailed ways have been reconditioned/machined parallel so there is no slop. There is about.007" backlash in the X-axis. There is about.010" backlash in the Y-axis. Both handles turn smooth and tight. There are tooling marks on the compound as shown in the pics. The base measures 3 5/8" x 6 1/2" It measures 3 1/2 inches tall. This compound comes with a shop made shoe attachment to fit on an Atlas 10" lathe(2 3/4 inch space between the rectangular ways) I used it on my Atlas lathe. Which has some slop in the original compound. Mounted on the Atlas, it turns it into a nice, precision lathe when desired. Of course the screw drive does not function with it. You can see it mounted in one of the pics. This shoe locks down on the rectangular ways ... moreof the Atlas bed. The tailstock and factory compound needs to be moved to the right, on a long bed this is no problem. It does not have any shoe or any mounting hardware for other split bed lathes. This will make a nice compound for a number of vintage split bed lathes as well as the Atlas or Elgin or Hardinge. Thanks for looking! Milling attachment for 10 inch Rockwell, Delta or Atlas metal lathe
This is an Atlas milling attachment for their 10- 12-inch lathes that has been adapted to fit a 10-inch Rockwell/Delta lathe. I adapted this attachment when I replaced my Atlas lathe with a Rockwell and discovered that Rockwell didn't make a milling attachment for their 10-inch lathe. Photos 8 and 9 show it attached to my 10-inch Rockwell. Note that there are no degree marks on the adapter plate- you'll need to do the Y-axis setup with an indicator or angle blocks. I used it for years(until I got a milling machine) and it works very well. It is in good condition except for the vice portion which has suffered at the hand of an unskilled/uncaring previous owner(see photos) The damage doesn't affect the operation. It is missing one nut for a gib screw but is otherwise complete. It may be returned to use on an Atlas lathe by removing ... morethe adapter plate- included are the Atlas clamping bolts and pins. Description: Original Atlas 618 and also the Craftsman 6" Metal Lathe Model 101 6" Lathe Change Gear Stack of 9 gears. All these were found buried deep in some boxes in an old estate and appear to never of been used. I lightly cleaned some of the original packing grease off but didn't want to overclean them. There is one each of the 56 54 52 46 44 40 36 gears and there are two(2) 32 tooth gears. Some of these have the M6-101-XX stamped on them. Complete older version(one of the 12" metal lathes from around 1935 I believe) Craftsman 12" compound with slide and swivel base. Gib, gib screws, brass nut, screw, handle, etc. It's a very nice compound slide, works fine and seems fully intact. Now adding the compound slide base and brass nut in this one auction.
