Here is a horseshoe magnet that measure 1 5/8" x 2 2/8" x 2 5/8" and is very strong. Pile of steel bars I picked up weighs just under 10 lbs and the coil spring compressdor it picked up weighs just under 20 lbs. Might pick more or less depending on shape of item you try to lift with it. Might be good for treasure hunting in lakes and rivers. Not sure what it's original used was. This is a complete tone arm asse mbly from an early Victor Electrola electric phonograph from around 1930. The horseshoe magnet pickup has a nice stamped brass end cover with the Victor Talking Machin e dog trademark on it. A t sometime in the past. Someone added a machined brass counterweight and added it to the back of the arm. That could be eas ily removed(just comes off by unscrewing the k nob) The original lead weight is there.So you could just fill in the screw hole. However, one may find that keeping th is extra weight may be advantageous for saving records(yo can adjust the counterbalance by rotating the brass weight since the mounting stud is eccentric) NO RESERVE. Vintage PAIR of industrial grey magnets- SUPER STRONG- combined weight of almost 31 pounds. We don't know much about these beyond the fact that we do not have the combined strength to slide them apart! Warning label on side recommends maintaining minimum 2" between magnet and anything that might attract. Our experience suggests that that distance should be more like 3-4" Each individual magnet measures approx 6" from bottom to top of arch(tall) 5 1/2" wide at widest point, 4" thick at thickest point. Mounting screw holes are about 3 1/4" apart. Think that these*might* be US Navy issue( as former owner was involved in Navy electronics during and after WWII. 1936 Harmony Lap Steel Guitar w/ Rickenbacker-made Horseshoe-magnet pickup
This is a Harmony lap steel. Originally sold only in the 1936 Sears& Roebuck"Golden Jubilee" catalog. The pickup was made by Rickenbacker, one year before they were granted the patent for the first electromagnetic pickup. While Rickenbacker is known for the trademark"Horseshoe" pickup used on their lap steels, this pickup features three coils.and an actual horseshoe magnet. The cast aluminum body is hollow except in the neck, and it actually sounds very similar to a resonator guitar, even when unplugged. The tuning machines were made by Waverly, and as you can see one of the buttons has been lost. However, I have tracked down an identical Waverly tuner from the same period, but I haven't attempted to install it since I have no experience with those; it will be included. The large volume/tone potentiometer(it definitely ... morerolls off the highs when you turn it down) is original, but the cord is not- a similar cloth-covered cable has been installed with a modern 1/4" male plug. The scale length is 25.5" same as most resonator guitars, acoustic guitars, and Fender guitars. It plays very well and sounds great!

This is a vintage Bell Systems horseshoe magnet. It came from the estate of a retired Bell employee. And the model on it is 481A. The heavy duty magnet includes the original fitted type expandable end clip, and what looks to be the original metal case. The magnet shows some light finish type wear, and the case shows rusting on the top area. The magnet itself weighs in at almost 5pds, and measures 5 1/2" in length. I have taken a number of photos.
