Here we have a couple of old tractor items that may or may not be of use to a collector or restorer of old tractors. These temperature gauges and the cast iron base have been sitting in the shed for decades. The base seems to be a yellow colour under all its aging. That may tell you what they are for. I have no idea so its a visual ID here. The part# on the cast base looks like 4235A but a bit hard to read. That may be a Ford# maybe? It's up to you to decipher these items. This is a vintage brass Barsh Instrument Company Serviceman thermometer/temperature gauge with remote sensor. It works but I'm not sure about its accuracy. It may need to be recalibrated. When I put it under in the freezer in the ice cube tray the temperature dropped. Before I did that. The temperature was about 76° in the house and the needle was the beyond the 65° mark. The dial is very clean and the beveled glass is unmarked. I did not clean this- I'll leave that to the experts! Have tested- holds accurate temperature. There is a chip on the plastic case over the 20 degree mark. Plastic face is tightly attached. Measures 4 7/8" across and is 1 1/3" thick. Here is an original Boston Stove Foundry Company Oven Temperature Gauge. It measures 3 inches across the glass(outside diameter) And the entire piece measures 5.25 inches from end to end. Glass is solid. No chips, or cracks. There is outside rust, and I took photos of that, but nothing is rusted through. Please email me with any questions. Thanks! Insurance is included in the price of shipping. I tested the gauge by putting it on top of a toaster oven. After several minutes. The gauge went up to the 2 mark, and then stayed there for a while, taking time for the gauge to go down. If anyone has a better way of testing the gauge, please let me know.
