But I think it's a vat thermometer from a paper mill. The needle does move when I run hot water on the probe, but I don't know if it's accurate or not. The glass is cracked as shown in pictures. It has threads on the back to screw into machinery. The nut is not original to the piece. I found that seperately and added it. Temp gauge also looked good and sold well as one of the first easy to read Temp gauges- Classic Farallon- if used it more than a few dives it would fail. Every collection needs pieces in memory of Ralph- the golden voice of diving for a few years. So many great ideas. Most ahead of their time as most failed. This is from the Jas P Marsh Corporation of Skokie. IL– I would date it to the late 1930’s to 1940. As shown in the photos it measures pressure to 300PSI and temperatures to 120°- the brass front cover is threaded and appears to have its original glass and gasket– and it does have a Recalibration Adjustment Screw. The Face Plate has a 5 ⅛” diameter– the metal back has a 6 ¼” diameter as well as its original finish– the unit itself is 2” thick and with the attached piping is 11” tall.
