VINTAGE Brass Temperature Gauge in Working Condition by HONEYWELL
This gauge is from my grandfather's workshop. It does work. As it registered the temperature change when I held it in my hand, but I cannot warranty its accuracy. The face is covered with glass and the casing and probe are brass. It looks to be in very good condition without scratches, dents or chips. There is a small spot of some sort of residue on the case. It has a base with screw holes for mounting. There is old masking tape around the cord which I did not attempt to remove to measure its length(see photo) All printing is completely readable without any signs of wear. It measures 3-3/4" across and the probe is 4-1/2" in length. Overall, this is a very nice instrument. Thanks for looking!

Ashcroft Laboratory Test Gauge that measures 7 and 7/16 inches across outside the brass ring. Measures 6 and 1/4 inches inside diameter without the ring. This is neat old ASHCROFT ASHOROFT? water pressure gauge. It reads: KEWANEE WATER SUPPLY CO. KEWANEE. ILL. THE ASHOROFT MFG. CO. NEW YORK REG. U.S. PAT. OFF The gauge reads 0-80. The top is brass and is 6" in diameter. The Bottom part is 6 3/4" in diameter. ⭐ I believe this should be Ashcroft as I could not find anything anywhere on Ashoroft. I really don't know much about this kind of item so here goes. It seem to be in pretty good condition for its age and has a brass trim around the glass. The glass is in good condition with no cracks or chips. The front measures 6" across and the back measures 6 3/4" across. It measures over 10" to the bottom of the pipe thingy and has a hole to hang. It is marked'Druge Bros Mfg Co Oakland CA' and below that is, US Property Ordnance Dept' The print is very light and I couldn't adequately capture it in a photo. The one I have pictured is the best of many attempts. Length is 12 3/4" and it has a tether ring mount. I believe this gauge dates to the WWII era. But I don't know for sure. From Barry David's seminal work The Antique American Steam Gauge: In the mid-1880s] inventors were toying with the idea of combining time pieces with the steam gauge. the inclusion of a clock movement and some kind of recording medium such as a round paper dial or spool of paper and recording pen charged with ink. It was designed to supply. a reliable instrument for recording all variations of pressure which take place in a steam boiler. it provided a graphic representation or chart showing every such variation of pressure. Its extent and duration, and time when it occurred. Several companies put out versions of recording gauges: Edson, Ashcroft, Ashton(under the name Peerless) ... moreMarsh and the one most commonly found today, Bristol, which was patented in 1894. This example by the NATIONAL GAUGE CO. NEW YORK, is the first I have encountered from this manufacturer. Similar in shape and operation to the Bristol, it has a clock work mechanism that turns a paper dial one revolution in 24 hours. A standard pressure gauge with an added mechanism(see the 6th and 7th photos) moves the ink pen(not present) over the paper to record the varying pressures. This is a VERY HEAVY bit of cast iron and cast alluminium by the look of it. that has been painted red. its been bolted onto something larger. the brackets are shaped and are good heavy cast magnetic metal. with a hole in either side. these are shaped brackets. the front is named MATHER& PLATT LTD.the front plaque sign is also cast.but is non magnetic indicating its an alloy.and is attached to the side brackets with 2 brass screws at either end. the left hand end has been under abit of pressure as its cracked the paintwork. I think the metal has bent.someone or someone driving a machine has been pulling on the bracket ... moreto create this BEND crack in the paintwork. you COULDNT do it by hand.so this front plate has the makers name on it. it has 4 brass screws into the side brackets. these are still in situ. the plaque is CIRCULAR shaped at the top. this is to take the BRASS GAUGE you see on it now. this is ONLY attached with 1 brass screw at the top. it does move about on the front. The gauge is glass fronted. says BOURDON COMPOUND GAUGE.MATHER& PLATT LTD MANCHESTER. in inches and pounds. with brass hand. Attached to the gauge is a brass pipe at the bottom with 3 other pipes INLET- FILTRATE- JETS.INLET 7 JETS have two small brass taps. these are solid and I dont want to touch them. abit of WD-40 will have these moving in no time I would imagine. these two pipes have red painted brass pipes attached as well. the centre one is BLOCKED off. Recently lubricated and run for about 10 minutes. Only flaw is a light scratch at the end of the tender. Which is not in the paint but a scratch in the brass used to manufacture the tender. This locomotive is electric driven; not steam. Made by Felix Spring of Switzerland. Sorry, original box not available. It is carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and surrounded by shredded paper inside a hard plastic covered tote and then re-packed in a corrugated box for shipping. This is one of a series of Gauge 1 4-6-2 German steam locomotives handcrafted by Felix Spring of Wettingen. Switzerland. It is all brass with no plastic parts. Length of locomotive is 29" 700 ... moremm) from locomotive bumper to tender bumper. Condition of the locomotive is optimal as it has been living on a display shelf for many years in the owners bedroom. Here is a vintage US Gauge Co. Victor welding gauge. The previous owner said this gauge was working though I have no way of testing it. The case is made of brass and the clear glass cover is very thick. There is one small chip out of the edge of the glass. Long ago smoothed over. A nice gauge for the Steampunk genre or for you welders out there. The gauge is about 3 inche across and weighs about a pound. Feel free to provide any information I may have omitted in the listing.
