This is a n An tique Brass Stroh& Wilson Inc. steam pressure gauge. It is marked Jas. P. Marsh& Company on the bottom of the fa ce. The glass face and brass trim ring are in very good condition. I polished the brass trim. The back of the case has some surface rust(I was going to sand and paint it but decided to keep it original) It was stored in my grand fathers' barn for 50+ years. Antique/Vintage Brass Gauge- I think it is a pressure gauge. It is labeled: UL 667-A- Lbs. Per Sq. In. Dial No. 5563-U. The face is glass and the casing is brass. I inherited this so I do not know anything about it. I am not mechanically inclined at all. I will tell you what I see in layman's terms. The metal part is in good condition but not as shiny as it once was and there are some areas of green discoloration. The glass covering the face is in good condition- I do not see any chips or cracks. I have no idea if it works or not. It is about 2 3/4" across the face x 3 3/4" long x 1 1/4" wide. NOTE: SHIPPING will be reduced if you live in a state close to Maryland. Wait for invoice from me to pay.

Star Brass Manufacturing 6" Pressure Gauge
Here is a very old 6" pressure gauge built by the Star Brass Manufacturing Company of Boston Mass. There are 3 dates on the gauge with the most recent being July 4th 1893. I have not been able to find another like it online so I don't know what it was used for. The cover holding the glass in will not stay attached to the unit. I'm sure there is a way to make it do so. But I don't want to mess with it's original condition. The gauge is heavy weighing over 5 pounds.

Gauge has same makers mark of a B in a circle also stamped on the tank. Thick beveled glass on gauge has a crack. This is a heavy gauge plate that I feel is new but has surface scratches due to being moved around over the years. Old large Westinghouse BRASS AIR BRAKE GAUGE with Double needles
This is a very large and heavy Air meter with two input ports working two indecator needles. Its very large and made of brass. I understand this is a old Railroad brake lin gauge also used on trolly cars as well. One needle tells the air pressure. the other needle tells the pressure down the line of the connected cars in case a line brakes loose. This type of guuge could be used for several other uses for air equipment& tools requiring two different pressure settings. It's a very large gauge 6 inches across& 2 3/4 inches thick. Made by Westinghouse beacon gauge Co. PROBLEMS& CONDITION This gauge was tested by me and both needles work good. This looks like it may of never been used. But can't be sure. It's a very nice old gauge and one of the largest one's I've found of this type.

Im selling a vintage brass gauge thats marked on its front and its back Hornung. It measures at longest points 3 1/2 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches long, it has threaded pipe extensions on both its sides that measure around 1/2 of an inch across the inside centers as well as a pipe extension at the top right below the gauge that has a brass bolt threaded into it plus a threaded bolt on its base. Over 160 years ago, Edward Ashcroft saw the need for safer, more sophisticated pressure and temperature instruments for use in the emerging steam industry. In response, he introduced a then-revolutionary new Bourdon tube pressure gauge just one of many innovations in the industry that can be attributed to him. Edward H. Ashcroft of Lynn, Massachusetts bought the American rights to a French pressure guage design and founded the Ashcroft Manufacturing Company in 1852 to make pressure gauges for steam engines. A gauging slide rule for calculating the contents of casks.Barrels etc- it is 1" x 3/4" in section and one foot long, with a slide in both faces and in one edge. The reverse of the 2 face slides has a list of the divisors and gauge points for Ale, Wine, MT(Malt Tuns) Malt, G St(Green starch) D St(Dry starch) HS(Hard soap) GSS(Green soft soap) WSS(White soft soap) FG(Flint glass) PG(Plate glass) CG(Crown glass) and GB(Phial,bottle glass) they also have some conversion factors between different types of dutiable liquids. The face slides each have one brass tip. The edges allow for the calculation of the volume of liquid in curved part casks- be they SS(segment standing) or SL(segment lying) And the calculation can be adjusted according to the style of cask(Spheroid, 2nd Varity and 3rd Varity) There is a small historic chip of wood(a ... moretriangular 1/8" missing at the end of one of the edges, and this is the rule's most serious defect! The numbers and writing are clear and easily legible. Being lightly incised and inked- the clarity is particularly fine behind the slides- the external patina is very nice- there are a few ink, I assume, smudges, and the brass pins set flush with the surface to mark the significant calculation points are still flush and all appear to be there. There is no maker's name- the rule distinguishes between the wine gallon and the ale gallon. And is thus pre 1824, and I understand it is an Everard type of slide rule, and would thus be post 1755- so a date around 1800 is probably reasonably accurate- experts on the history of taxation might be able to tie it down further. I recommend Ron Manley's Slide Rule Site collection specialised rules for further information on Gauging Rules.
