I bought this gage in used condition(serial number 567223) And used it just a few times in my home shop. It shows very little wear and works smoothly. After adjusting the dial to zero, the indictor returns precisely to zero on repeated measurements. Starrett has a new edition of this gage(81-111-1150-2) but from the descriptions and pictures in their catalog, there aren't any noticeable differences from this model. The gage has a range of 0-2" and the indicator is graduated by 0.0001" with a range of 0.04" A new gage with stand will cost you over $1500!

This is a Standard Gage Company Snap Gage with a dial indicator. The throat measures a little under 1/2 inch between the bottom anvil and the contact. The bottom anvil is covered with a protectant that is similar to what is used to protect threads on go/no go gages. The frame has a number 2 on one side that is part of the casting. The dial indicator and the upper anvil appear to function properly. The dial indicator is also made by the Standard Gage Company. The block that the dial indicator is attached to reads NO 1 DIALIZER STANDARD GAGE CO. INC POUGHKEEPSIE. N.Y. PAT. NO. 2580009. There is a tag attached to the body of the frame that has G37 105400228 PROD stamped on it. Due to my unfamiliarity with this item and its age, this is an AS IS and NO RETURN item.
