Here for your consideration is Ross Evolution#2 black fly reel in excellent condition. I purchased this reel new in 2006 and have used it often. But have taken very good care of it. I recently had the drag serviced by Ross(routine) and the drag and overall function is strong and smooth. There is a little edge wear on the reel foot from having been installed on a rod. There is one nick in the finish on the outer edge of the front of the reel frame on the left side(see picture) and also at the leading edge of the bottom post of the reel(also seen in pictures) from contact with fly line. All very minor. The original box, neoprene reel case and instruction/maintenance booklet are included in this auction. I do not have the warranty card. Latest model Ross Evolution L t in size 1.5 in green anodize. Purchased last winter and o nly used for this trip. I purcha sed the reel on line for a deal that included a good quality line. I upgraded to the Scientific Anglers Sharkskin line for an additional $40.00. The total cost was $325.00 last year. I've never fished anything close to the casting ability of this line. Read about it before you buy. Some reports say it makes a different sound as it passes through the eyes. I'm 75 and probably couldn't hear any way. Sage Bluegill 7'11" 4pc. This is the original bluegill. Not the bluegill 2. Throws a loop like a razor blade through butter, the Bluegill 2 does not cast as well. I liked this rod so much I fished it in coldwater, warmwater, and saltwater situations, using 3 8wt lines I selected over time that match perfectly with the rod. The first is the bass taper included with the rod. This line is sage branded but made by Rio. Great for accurate casts with big flies and 1 false cast. Next is the Rio Grand 8wt, insane for chucking streamers off a drift boat or raft, great tactic for streamer trout floats. Rigged on the Evolution 3(did I mention how sweet these are? is Rio Redfish. If you like to paddle around mangroves looking for tails, this is a great tool for that. This setup has seen some very successful use, has excellent'fish mojo' ... morealready in place for you, lines are looped at both ends, cleaned, and treated with Agent X. It was in the Automotive Hall of Fame library. A fascinating look at the oil industry in its early days, the history, companies, locations of oilfields in places like Romania, California, Russia, Mexico. etc. Includes articles on pipe lines, refining oil, gas stations, the role of gasoline, locating and drilling wells, wildcatting, the role of petroleum in the Great War, Rockefeller, Drake, just about everything known up to 1920. When this was written, many scientists thought oil was the result of a chemical reaction in the earth's crust. The other theory is that it was formed from dead prehistoric animals. The Ross Evolution 1.5 Fly Reel being auctioned here displays but only a few ... moremodest signs of nominal cosmetic wear in the typical high traffic areas. As evidenced in the photos. There are some very minor surface scratches, scrapes, and light rubs noticed about reel and spool's rimmed edges and face, but the reel remains structurally and mechanically solid both overall and throughout. A quick testing of the reel's highly adjustable disc-drag confirms smooth increasing tension throughout its entire range. With no stutter, stick, or hesitation noted. And a thorough inspection of the reel's interior confirms all internal parts still perfectly intact and fully functional. With no excessive residue build up, tarnishing, or oxidization of component pieces found. The reel foot still appears straight and tight with no signs of warp or excessive wear noted. Winston fly rod BIIX 8' 4WT and Ross fly reel Evolution LT 1.5
One is a great fly rod and reel combo. The Winston BIIX is a great medium action rod the delivers dry flies and unweighted nymphs and streams with great accuracy. The reel is workhorse that will withstand any abuse and keep working. Great drag. This rod and reel are perfect for fishing spring creeks or other small streams. As well as having fun with warm water fish. The reel is like new and has not seen a great deal of fishing. The rod was custome made by a friend and was made with the finest components.
