It appears that Windust was considering and/or planning a production of The Devil in Velvet. As cast notes are hand-written on one of the back pages(see photos) A nice piece of Hollywood history! Bretaigne Windust(January 20. 1906– March 19, 1960) was a French-born theater, film, and television director. Windust's first major credit as a professional theatre director was the 1932 West End production of Eugene O'Neill's Strange Interlude. Here we have a Baby Lamb Planter Bobble Head/ Nodder. It is by Dickson. It looks good but has a hairline crack in back of the head. The crack is stable but it is present. Aside from that there is some soiling it could use a cleaning I suppose. And a couple chips under the head that are not normally seen. She is about 6 inches long and 6 ½ inches tall. Hi. I have for my auction this antique. Silver plated, 5 1/4" high, jug, by James Dickson& Sons. It is fully marked on the base, and it also has 1/2 engraved on it. Around the bottom and"neck" of the jug, is a pattern of"greek key" design, and on the front and back there two very decorative cartouches, no engraving on them. It has been well cleaned, and is not in bad condition really, but it has been repaired on the base, pretty crudely, but not by me! It was in a large box of vintage items I recently bought at an auction, and seemed too nice to throw away, so I thought someone might like it! So I have found it a lot of fun. or not, if it's all true. At bare minimum, interesting. Please be aware that this book has been owned by an avid fly tyer and cigar smoker. And the books are stored where the cigars are smoked. So keep that in mind as you bid. My friends who borrow books say that the smell wears off in about a week. And you can read them in comfort at that time. They usually read them in dis-comfort before then. This antique/vintage pottery planter is in EXCELLENT CONDITION and free of any chips. Cracks or the like. It's really beautiful and the colors are very lifelike. It is made by Dickson in Japan and measures about 8" long and about 6" tall. The original sticker is still on the bottom. Vintage, bracelet by Navajo silversmith, Benny Dickson(c. 1960) It is hand wrought in sterling silver and set 5, genuine, Morenci turquoise. The top of the bracelet is 7/8" wide(top to bottom) The inner circumference is 6 1/2" including the break/gap which is 1 1/2" It weighs 26 grams. It is stamped"BCD" I see no damage to it other than some normal wear from use and tarnishing. There are some natural crazing in the stones. National Bank Notes were United States currency banknotes issued by banks chartered by the United States Government. The notes were backed by United States bonds the bank deposited with the United States Treasury. Background Prior to the American Civil War. State banks issued their own banknotes. During the Civil War. In 1863, the National Banking Act established a system of National Banks which were empowered to issue National Bank Notes subject to federal oversight. The chartering of banks and administrative control over the issuance of National Bank Notes were the responsibility of the Office of the Comptroller ... moreof the Currency. In 1865 the Congress enacted a 10% tax on state bank note issuance making it unprofitable for state banks to issue notes. And thus restricting the circulation of privately issued banknotes to the National Banks. The Program From 1863 to 1935.
