It is in a plastic casing with a hole in the back for hanging with vented side panels. It seems to be working at our location according to our local weather station reading levels but it is being sold"as is" It does have a very nice gold, black and turquoise blue face plate of which the condition is very good with maybe one small mark to the very right side just about 70 on the humidity side. The center knob for setting the barometer is working and intact. The clear plastic covering the gauges does have a few scuffs and some of the gold on the top and bottom strip edges have some wear. I'd love to thank the genius who invented this handy little tool-it has saved me thousands! I initially purchased this to renovate my nearly 100 year old kitchen cabinets(last two photos show them before and after) They are solid wood with glass panes. But were painted over the years and literally had over 20 layers of paint painted over them. I started off using chemical paint removers which burn terribly even if it's just one drop that falls on your skin and this does not include the fumes! Not only does the heat gun remove multiple layers at once, but I also used it to remove the adhesive for floor tiles that had covered this apartment's lovely hardwood floors. This saved me the trouble of purchasing a $1200 floor sander! After using the heat gun to remove the adhesive, I simply used a $30 finishing sander to polish both the ... morecabinets and the floor. Cosmetic damage to front cover but guages work Vintage gauge. But still working. These do not use electricity or batteries. They take their readings from the air. Measures about 5" long, 2-1/8" wide, and 3-1/4" tall. The case is a plastic wood-tone and the rear is ribbed with vents. The front cover is either acrylic or plastic though I'm not sure which. There is a crack in it which is shown up close in one of the pictures. The base does not have cork strips. See the picture of the underside. The dial background is a gold color with black hands. The left side is numbered 30-110 and gives the temperature in Fahrenheit from 20 degrees up to 120 degrees.
