Vintage early 1940s Omega 30T2 SC gents wrist watch
Please scroll down for lots more photos. A 1940s gents Omega wrist watch. The watch has a 30T2 SC hand-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within a couple of minutes or so over a 24 hour period. The movement is stamped Omega. Swiss, 16 Jewels and it has the serial number 9,701,747 which dates it back to the first half of the 1940s. The watch measures 32.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is in good condition for its age with just the odd mark but nothing serious. The inside of the snap-on case back has the Omega triangular stamp. The winding crown was probably plated originally but has now worn down to the base metal. The lens is in good condition. The dial has the Omega logo and is also signed Omega. Swiss Made. These are for tubular tyres and are anodised grey and laced with double butted stainless steel spokes to Chorus C-Record Era small flange 32 hole hubs. They come complete with the original quick release skewers. OLN width is front 100mm. Rear 130mm. The rear has a 8 Speed Campagnolo freehub. The condition of these wheels is superb having been used only very lightly indeed; They could easily pass for new! These are the same type of wheels regularly used by the professionals when racing in one-day classics or the grand tours during the 1980s. They are ... morefamously lightweight and tough at the same time! Years ago Jobst Brandt did some rim stiffness tests and this rim was amongst the very best tested. On the back it is marked'Omega Swiss. 15 Jewels, 8 Days, 9114168' It is missing the main brass casing it sits in. It measures approx 3 5/8" diameter. The winder is not connected to the movement. So it needs repairing. The balance spring is not broken and looks like it would work well. It has some tarnishing on the brass. Some minor chips from the paint on the blue hands.

This watch is a14kt gold Omega. The winding works and tells time with no problems. The case and bracelet is tested for 14kt authenticity. The watch has an Omega symbol on the winding part. The watch is 7 inches long. The face is 3/4 of an inch up and down. A little over an inch across. The latch on the watch is marked with a triangle as shown in the pictures and it says 14kt in very tiny letters. It tells time perfectly. The watch has a engraving on back, and is date 1977, and has 14kt running across the closing back part of the watch. Therefore, both bracelet part and box is labeled 14kt gold.
