It is in a plastic casing with a hole in the back for hanging with vented side panels. It seems to be working at our location according to our local weather station reading levels but it is being sold"as is" It does have a very nice gold, black and turquoise blue face plate of which the condition is very good with maybe one small mark to the very right side just about 70 on the humidity side. This controller came out of a lumber yard kiln in Winchester. VA. The chart on the face has a date of 3/18/77. It was tracking the drying specs of a kiln full of poplar. I have NO IDEA if it works or not. The nib on the red stylus is missing. You need chart paper or make your own. There is a clip system so you can attach homemade charts if you want. This item is in EXCELLENT Vintage Condition showing minimal cosmetic wear. Features Solid Wood Construction. Cherry Finish and Brass Accents. Sunbeam" and"Made in Japan" are marked on the front and all components have a Brushed Gold Rim around a Ivory Face. This is a large weather station that measures 16" in height by 6-5/8" in width and 1-5/8" in depth. Three of the clear protectors on the brass corners is still in place. The Plastic Cover over the Barometer has a hairline crack. It cannot be felt from the outside and has not separated in any way. This is a Jason/Empire Weather Station. It has two gauge faces with three separate instruments. The top gauge is a barometer. With a black needle, which indicates the current barometric pressure. There is also a gold needle which is simply a movable marker. You can set the marker over the black needle. Than check the gauge over a period of time to see how much change has taken place. There is also an access port on the back of the station to allow calibration of the barometer. The lower gauge gives temperature on the upper half. And relative humidity on the lower half. The gauges 4-inches wide. The bezels are gold-toned plastic(but you actually have to touch them to know) and the lenses are plastic as well. The gauges are mounted on a solid 7/8-inch thick mahogany board. The board is 5 ½-inches wide by 10 7/8-inches tall. The corners ... moreof the board have screwed on brass corners. And there is a decorative, brass hanger at the top. A relief cut-out on the back of the station provides a concealed mounting point. The station is in excellent working and physical condition. And looks fantastic.
