Rare Antique Vintage Lloyd's Hygrodeik Thermometer Barometer Measures Humidity This Is A Rare and Hard To Find Item! It's a Lloyd's Hygrodeik. Copyright 1901 Andrew J. Lloyd& Co. Boston It measures relative humidity. Dew Points with wet and dry bulbs. With Charts Measuring High Electrical Tension and Low Electrical Tension The directions for reading the hygrodeik are on the back. To find the Relative Humidity" To find the Dew Point and Absolute Amount in Grains" Electrostatic Stress" It is on a metal base either copper or coated in copper One bulb on the right has cracked. The other on the left is filled with what I believe to be mercury. It has a plaque on the base"TAYLOR BROS ROCHESTER. NY" The owner of this Hygrodeik in 1975 sent a letter to the Smithsonian Institute asking if they knew anything ... moreabout this instrument. This letter comes with it. There is the response letter from the Smithsonian Institute dated January 30. 1976. That they had never seen a Lloyds Hygrodeik. Or any description of such an instrument. They in fact had an Edson's Hygrodeik which is similar. And patented in 1865. A copy of a book on its use by Edson is in the Library of Congress.
