This unit was used by our local utilities company N.S.P. Northern states power company from South Dakota. This company was a gas and electric company. There is the original carrying case(the strap is broken from so many years of use. There are 2 cardboard Dickson Chart boxes one is full(100 charts) the other has 33 charts of unused charts. Although Dickson would lead the National League in defeats for three successive seasons(1952–54) He pitched the St. Louis Cardinals to the 1946 NL pennant by beating the Brooklyn Dodgers in the decisive Game 2 of the league playoffs. Dickson joined the Cardinals in 1942. VINTAGE Antique Baseball Bat, Extremely Rare LEATHERS' Commodore-Dickson, Tenn.
Up for sale is a vintage antique extremely RARE Baseball Bat manufactured in Dickson. Tennessee and labeled LEATHERS' COMMODORE. I have never seen this label before, but I know it was made by the A.H. Leathers Manufacturing Company in Dickson, Tenn. Leathers was established in June of 1923 and built many residential and commercial buildings( Dickson's War Memorial Building. Etc. This property was later home to the Dickson Planing Mill Company. Their land were sold at public auction to the A. H. Leathers Manufacturing Company on August 15, 1934. Leathers' resumed operations at this location after their original Dickson location burned on July 4, 1934. The'Leathers' company began in 1879 and moved to Dickson from Pennsylvania in 1898 and located between College Street and the railroad tracks near where the old Dickson Normal ... moreCollege stood. The mill had employed many people over the years and made such items as this baseball bat, tool handles for picks, axes, etc. and hardwood flooring. Mr. A. H. Leathers, founder, died in 1932 and his children owned the company until 1955 when Harry R. Leathers, Jr. purchased the entire business. The property was purchased by the Tennsco Corporation in 1998 and the decaying buildings of a large portion of Dickson's early history were demolished. This RARE bat is in EXTREMELY nice shape and condition! Please see several photos for a complete visual description of this wonderful piece of baseball memorabilia. The engraving in the bat is deeply stamped Into the bat end in typical block form from that era. The bat weighs 2.2 pounds and measures 35 inches long and the barrel measures 2 1/4 inches wide. The baseball bat is in absolutely great shape and condition for being probably close to 75 years old- not a lot if these beauty's floating around out there.
