This is a Wonderful Vintage German ENDURA Travel Alarm Clock. This features a really nice fine leather wrapped case that resembles an old suitcase or travel trunk. It has real stitching. Straps, metal buckles, handle, and brass snap. The clock works great and has a Working alarm. It measures 3" x 3" x 1 1/2" when closed. The outside of leather is very nice, and all stitching is complete. The strap that snaps it shut is torn and gone. The brass clock bezel needs a little polishing, but otherwise very nice. The scene was captured by noted American entrepreneurs, arctic adventurers, and photographers, Carl J. and Alfred J. Lomen. Both attorneys from Minnesota, the Lomen brothers traveled to Nome, Alaska in the early 20th century to gain a stake in the thriving reindeer industry. Nice Refinished Dome Arch Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/ Working Lock & Key
Nice Refinished Antique Arched Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key Here is a nice refinished primitive steamer trunk or travel trunk from the mid to late 1800's. It has the following dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 1 7 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 15 inches. This one has a very slight dome to the top. The trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are plenty of older stress marks on the wood. These older markings include nicks and dings in various places along with some stress cracks. Some of the wood that makes up this trunk is rough cut and you can still see the saw blade marks on the wood. We have shown a picture of this on the top. The top center slat ... moreboard has been replaced with an old board off of a parts trunk. The two original slat boards on the top have grooves at the outer edge. The replacement one does not. There is a very small piece of the upper slat board missing at the front left side. It's not a big deal. We just thought we should mention it. If you look closely at the top view picture, you can see what we are talking about. This trunk has a working lock. The lower part of the lock is brass and original to this trunk. The upper part that goes into the lock is off of a parts trunk. We have matched up a key that does work with this lock so you can store your belongings away under lock and key if you want to. The metal parts that are not brass have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior. We have finished the interior wood with two coats of polyurethane. There are some typical stress cracks running across the bottom. Antique Trunk, Dome/Barrel Top, Ladies Saratoga, Late 1800s, not steamer trunk
Wow. Great old trunk! Late 1800s Seward Trunk& Bag Co. Ladies Saratoga Trunk" Otherwise known as a"Barrel Stave Top" or"Dome Top" This style of trunk is quite often mistakenly referred to as a steamer trunk; steamer trunks are a maximum of 14" tall and flat. A bit rough. Someone removed the lock portion of the main latch. It is an unusual double latch design. The compartment lid inside has broken and been repaired. Corner wear, some surface rust and oxidation. Leather handles broke off and were replaced with some very heavy duty brass handles a long time ago. The brass handles appear to be quite old. One of the cast strap clamps is broken yet all there. There is some damage to the tin clad skin. Original lining is cracked and torn in places. It appears to be all original with the exception of the handles ... moreand has not been painted(painting these trunks takes away from their value significantly) I'm sure I'm missing something so please look at the photos carefully and ask questions! Item is available for preview with appointment. I personally would leave it an unrestored original yet it could be restored bringing its value up. This would make a great display piece in your store, business or home. It has a covered hat/ glove compartment in the lid. Hardwood slats. The inside of the lid has the 2 original color chromo-lithographs; one depicting a man pushing a wheelbarrow with a woman and 3 children inside and the other is a woman pushing her daughter on a swing with a smaller picture of what appears to be ice skaters. ANTIQUE LOUIS VUITTON ROUNDED TOP LEATHER STEAMER TRUNK CIRCA 1854 to 1867
This is a numbered leather rounded top steamer trunk circa 1854 to 1867. The company started in 1854 and in 1867 changed the look to canvas and the top to a flat surface for better stacking. This trunk has a little recent damage to one outside corner from my daughters cats scratching but I think that can be smoothed out with the right tool. The trunk is over 100 years old so the outside is worn but it is in good condition in spite of the scratches. The inside is in beautiful condition with a wonderfully intack. Clean tray and 3 compartments below the tray with the ties still there to hold your clothes down? The outside leather handles are still there and in good condition. I never allowed anyone to move the trunk by using these handles. I also have a key to the trunk. There are, it seems to me, old European hotel sticker marks on the outside. ... moreI actually have some of these old, beautifully colored stickers from the 1950's or earlier that I would sell separtley. This piece of luggage is a real collectable Louis Vuitton and in better condition than any I have seen sold at other sales. Antique Steamer Trunk* Antique Steamer Trunk measures 32 x 18.5 x 12.5; made of wood covered with canvas. Inside there is a shelf with separate compartment that lifts out. Attached to the inside of the lid there is an envelope style compartment. There is a lock and two latches. The lock does not have a key so we use the latches to secure the truck closed. The fitting right above the lock is missing two of it’s four nails so it loose. There are no leather handles on the trunk. I am not an antique dealer/expert and am describing the trunk to best of my ability and knowledge. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. Charming Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key Here is a lovely refinished steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 13 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This nice trunk consists of poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in pretty good condition with some typical older distress marks which include nicks and dings mostly concentrated on to the outer slat boards. And a couple of hairline stress cracks in the base wood. This one comes with the original working lock. We have matched up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. The front two latches are original and do work properly since the ... moresprings are intact. The metal parts which make up this trunk are not brass and have there been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing. Someone had drilled small holes in the wood and run rope through these holes to make handles for this trunk. They were rather lousy looking, so we have removed those handles and installed a pair of nice Amish made black leather stitched handles where these rope ones were. These handles are sturdy. Going to the interior, we have removed the paper lining which was worn out looking and finished the wood with two coats of polyurethane. A nice trunk maker's style picture of a Victorian woman standing in a boat on a pond has been added to the underside of the top. The exterior bottom has normal wear and we have finished the bottom to make it overall cleaner. This trunk could be used as a low coffee table, tv/stereo stand, and/or a storage chest anywhere in your home where storage space is needed. This item is a vintage antique woodden hump back steamer trunk. It measures 32"x 16" x 18.5" It is in very good shape. The outside is all original. It still has the original wooden handles. There are a couple of cracks in the top. But they do not take away from the character of the trunk.The inside has been lined with a mint green floral pattern. AMAZING 1800S SALESMAN SAMPLE DOMED STEAMER TRUNK WITH ORIGINAL INSERTS- SCARCE!
THIS AMAZING VICTORIAN-ERA SALESMAN SAMPLE WAS DISCOVERED IN A LOCAL ESTATE. IT IS- BY ALL ACCOUNTS- A COMPLETE PERIOD EMBOSSED-TIN DOME STEAMER TRUNK. HOWEVER. IT IS FAR MORE THAN THAT. It represents an era long lost, and is both a piece of americana and a scarce early advertising/ display piece. It dates to the 1870s-1880s, and was made to scale, featuring every detail of a full-scale steamer trunk in a more compact package. A travelling salesman couldn't possibly drag a full-scale trunk from house-call to house-call, so a VERY SMALL NUMBER of these pieces were manufactured. They allowed the salesman to showcase the many features of the steamer trunk, and were constructed in the same fashion, using the same materials. A salesman sampler such as this was a far more effective bargaining tool than a pamphlet full of 2-dimensional photographs. ... moreIt allowed the customer to pick up and inspect the trunk, lift the lid, and get a better feel of what the full-sized trunk had to offer. it was meant to be taken on the road, and samplers were put through far more wear than the actual trunks they helped sell. VERY FEW STILL EXIST. One salesman sample was given to the salesman, and was shown and stored hundreds of times- selling hundreds of trunks- until it was too road-weary to showcase and retired/ thrown away. this particular example is in amazing condition considering age and usage. It has all of the inserts. Which still have bright colors and original lithography, as well as interior leather pulls. The original lining is complete and well preserved. The trunk has retained the entire outer, embossed-tin skin[a basket-weave pattern] and every wooden strap is present. The tin panels are free of rust or jags[curling/ sharp points] The top/ lid opens and closes smoothly, and the original hinges operate as they did 140-150 years ago. Rare Antique Louis Vuitton Trianon Gray Steamer Trunk 1880's
This trunk has been authenticated by the curator of the Louis Vuitton exhibition in Paris through emails. It's the real deal! This size is a rare half steamer. Measuring 13.5 inches high. 35.5 in wide, and 19.5 inches in depth. This trunk is about 130 years old, has traveled the oceans, and shows it's wear. It does have some condition issues. Please look at the pictures carefully. The inside is covered in the original blue/white striped ticking, and it has it's original removable tray, very rare to find the tray with the trunk! Also original label from the Paris Exhibition with the dates 1867, 1868. You can see half a serial number on the top of label. There is also a Louis Vuitton stamp on the bottom of trunk. A"W" is painted on both side ends. It is very very rare to find a gray, un-monogrammed trunk, This is a piece ... moreof history! The very first trunk Louis Vuitton made was the Trianon gray canvas steamer introduced in 1858. The trunks were made of waterproof-treated canvas with a wooden frame. Previously. Trunks of the day featured rounded tops to facilitate water run-off. Many other designers of the day imitated Louis Vuitton's Flat Topped Trianon Trunk, so in 1876 he changed the plain gray Trianon design to a striped pattern making it harder for his imitators to copy.
