This is a lot of 16 glass negatives from the same man who did all the blueprints I've listed. These are from the late 1800's or early 1900's. Some of the boxes I will list have names and info and others don't. All the blueprints and specifications were from Detroit Shipbuilding Works. Great Lakes Engineering Company, Willamette iron and Steel and many random others. I really don't have much info on what some of these might be, but the next box I am listing is"About Detroit" so keep looking and checking back. The only thing this box says is SHIPS Machinery Et Cetera It is a W. Schiller and Company Perfection Dry Plates box These appear to be miscellaneous ships. This is a very interesting September 7. 1862 Civil War soldier letter from Henry Bartlett of the 36th Massachusetts Regiment to his mother back home in Bolton, Ma. It is datelined Washington, DC. In this quite descriptive letter, Henry, who is a young boy(man) from the backwoods of Massachusetts, tells his mother of the sights and sounds of his first boat trip from Boston to Washington. He left Boston on the Steamer Merrimac together with the boys of the 20th Maine. That regiment would later become famous at the Battle of Gettysburg with Colonel Chamberlain leading the Maine boys) He then tells his mother that they passed by Fort Independence(located on Castle Island in Boston Harbor) He saw land a number of times. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 1800s DOME STEAMER TRUNK CHEST WOOD 4 ORIGINAL COMPARTMENTS
We are pleased to offer this very nice. BEAUTIFUL antique VICTORIAN steamer trunk. The chest has a domed top and is wood and metal construction. It features ornate iron hardware and trim and leather side handles. This wonderful trunk has an UNTOUCHED, ORIGINAL INTERIOR. The interior is lined in decoupage fashion. It has 4 compartments that are each defined with a different decoupaged portrait. They lift up(the top compartment lid lowers) for storage but they are not the"lift out" removable type of replacement trays. They are constructed of a heavy cardboard type material and have hooked closing mechanisms. The largest compartment is the lower compartment. It is accessible by lifting the sides of the center compartment. The trunk is very nice and is very much in original condition with very little restoration. The leather handles ... moremay have been replaced at some point as they have an aged patina but are in excellent condition. The trunk has the original locks but has no key. There are two clasp closures with locks on the front with a large center lock. There are 4 small wheels on the bottom of the trunk for easy transport. They are in good working condition. The trunk has no major dents or damage. There are a few minor dings but they are not very noticeable and they do not distract from the beauty of this chest. The interior is aged and is in untouched and unrestored condition. It is quite lovely with no major rips or tears to the decorative paper lining. The trunk measures 30" wide. My great grandfather, was the owner of this trunk, I don't know where he got it from, but he was very wealthy, and he owned, a huge mansion, up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, witch is very rare, as 99.9% of folks are poor up there, as there is nothing but trees, and water, he had left the estate to my grandfather, about 40 years ago my grandfather never went back to the estate, he let it become basically codemed or he let it go, and it became un-livable, when my grandfather died the estate went to me I didn't know about it so I went and checked out, and I found this trunk hidden between his closet, and a little trap door in what might have been my great grandfathers master bedroom. Up for auction is a vintage steamer truck/chest from a mansion in Scarsdale. New York. The family stated it was an ancestral trunk. It was wrapped in sheets in the attic. The outside looks good for its age. One of the leather handles is intact the other is broken but still on the trunk. The metal detailing throughout is stunning. The footing I’ve never seen. The latches say“patd 79” and the middle plate says. Patd May 54 and April 73. Hence, this is pre-1880. The inside is rough but it still has all the Victorian inserts! The inserts are in really tough shape, ripped, water damaged but it’s all there. The entire drawer/insert comes out. Size is approximately 32”X25”X14” It’s all original…I won’t even dust it. Refinished Double Lock Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Two Working Locks and Key Here is the first double lock refinished dome top trunk that we have had in a very long time. This trunk dates back to the late 1800's. Here are the dimensions: from left to right across the front is 36 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 26 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/2 inches. This large dome top is made up of pine base wood, ash or oak outer slat boards, and the dome is made up of early ply. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane. This one has a lot of distress marks which include areas on the wood that are darker in color, probably due to moisture in various places on this trunk. Also there are stress cracks running across the top wood that makes up the dome. There are typical nicks and dings in various ... moreplaces. This particular trunk was a little more weathered when we received it than most of the trunks we refinish. So we did make it as nice as we could, but do want to mention some of the characteristics. This one comes with the two factory original working locks. We have matched up a key that does work in each of the locks. You can lock your personal belongings away from others if you want to. The metal parts making up this trunk are not brass, so we have brush painted the metal by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps and the handle caps have an embossed star on them. You could store a lot of belongings inside this trunk since it is pretty large. It may look nice at the foot of the bed in the bedroom or anywhere in your house where storage space is needed. If you are one who enjoys collecting rustic more primitive style antiques, then this one might be just the right one for you since it is more rustic than most trunks that we refinish. Antique Steamer Trunk With Eagle Lock Canvas and Wood Nice Condition
I am selling a really nice antique steamer trunk. This piece is in really nice condition. The interior panels are all solid, no rotting. The hinges are tight, when you close the lid it matches up perfectly at the latches and lock. The original handles were missing so I attached handles on it to make it easy to move but they are not in the original posistion as shown in pics. Some of the corner metal pieces are dented, other ones are perfect. The lock is an Eagle Lock brand lock, I dont know if it locks because I dont have the key so I wont completely close the lock. The trunk is 35 inches long, 21 inches deep and 13 inches tall. If you have any questions please ask and I'll be glad to help.

Antique Indestructo Steamer Trunk with Hangers and drawers
T his Indestructo steamer style trunk came from an old estate of a well-traveled couple living in the Shenandoah Valley. Virginia. Included with the trunk is 1 Suit Jacket Hanger, 1 Pants Hanger, 4 Shirt Hangers. The trunk appears to be fairly complete, however the lock has been removed by the previous owner. Many locks for this style trunk are available on Ebay but it doesn't affect the quality, nor functionality of this Indestructo Trunk. The trunk also has 4 drawers that all open well and has a bar lock to keep the drawers from opening on their own or being tampered with. The removable shoe box is complete with snaps but the leather has since torn over the years. This would be an easy fix for anyone competent in leather work. This is a great original antique trunk that measures 36" long X 23.5" Tall X 21 1/4" wide This is a big one. I am not sure of exact date when it was manufactured. But i would put somewhere around 1940's. The stamp on the lock reads Long Lock and Lock# 907. It has genuine leather handles on both sides. All the rivets are in place. The hardware is made from brass. The trunk is made of Vulcanized Fiber. It is in sound shape. There is a pull out drawer with the lid. The drawer is divided in two sections. You are viewing a very stunning antique Steamer trunk. Out of all the trunks I've refinished. This is by far the most unique. The metal trim on all sides, front and back has a unique detailing to it. I would dare to say it is one of a kind. It has been refinished inside and out to bring out the beautiful patina to the Pine base and Oak slats. The lock is very ornate with great looking designs. The end clamps and hardware are also very detailed and unique. It has 4 working casters on the bottom to help in moving from place to place. I left the original paperwork holder on the inside top of lid. It is a little stained, but all intact with leather strap to keep it shut. The dimensions are; L35" W21" and H24" It has a slight arch to the top, but could still be used as a coffee or end table. Or just display it proudly for everyone ... moreto see.
