Large Square Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key Air Force
Air Force Military Band Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key Here is a refinished flat top steamer trunk from the Air Force. This one had labels on the exterior that gave reference to the Air Force and it had"218 Band" painted on the canvas. It probably was a trunk used by the Air Force to carry around a band instrument. We have taken some pictures of this label and writing on the canvas. We will be including these items with the trunk when it is sold. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 35 inches. From floor to top 20 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 35 inches. This unique trunk is the second one that we have had to refinish out of about 1500 trunks. It is not very common to find a trunk of this size and style. The trunk is made up of pine ply base ... morewood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood does have some older character marks or beaut marks which include nicks and dings on the wood in various places. The trunk maker used a lot of cap metal on the edges. Probably to keep this trunk from being damaged if it got struck on the sides. The metal parts that make up this trunk are not brass, so we have brush painted the metal by hand in black and gold leaf. This large trunk comes with a signed working lock. It is signed, Excelsior" We had to remount the lock since it was loose when we received the trunk. The lock works since we have found a key that does activate the lock mechanism. The front and side latches also work, although we did have to replace one of the side latches. It is somewhat similar to the other three. This large square flat top trunk could serve nicely as a coffee table, especially if you have a sectional sofa. It would fit right in the 90 degree area in front of the sectional. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather straps. Excellent Dome Top Oak& Tin Steamer Trunk w/ Original Tray This is a very fine example of a 19th century travel steamer trunk with a dome top. The trunk is constructed of Oak and metal. Presumably tin or sheet steel. In the late 1800's when you went on a trip you would often go for more than a month at a time so you had to bring a wide range of clothing and personal items for the trip. This trunk was probably a mid range model, not the cheapest plain jane trunk but not the fanciest trunk either. One thing is for certain, they made trunks in those days to withstand a beating. This trunk is as solid as the day it was made. It open and closes easily and the hinges are still firmly in place and in good working condition. The interior still has the original paper lining. The black metal is flat and plain while the hammered metal sections ... moredepict Red stars and blue leaves. Huge Louis Vuitton steamer trunk circa 1890 #15792
This trunk is early 1890's. It is in beautiful condition for a 120-year-old steamer trunk. It has a very low serial number 15792. You can see in the photos the steel bottom with the Louis Vuitton stamp on both ends. With the steel bottom and wooden slats. This trunk is very sturdy. It has the original casters. The outside of the trunk has been stained. But the stripes from the original fabric are very visible. The inside is covered with the original pink striped ticking. It does have staining and wear on the inside. The original locks have been changed by a previous owner. Dimensions are: 43 inches long, 27.5 inches high, 24 inch depth. It is black painted canvas over wood with wood strips and brass trim. There is riveted tin trim on all of the edges, Heavy leather handles and straps. Has two removable trays covered in fabric. Fabulous Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Straps,Key, & Tray
Gorgeous Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key, and Interior Tray Here is one of the nicest. Fanciest trunks that we have refinished so far this year. This flat top steamer trunk should date back to the late 1800's to around 1900 or so. This trunk maker did a nice job of running lots of slat boards and metal banding on this trunk. This beautiful trunk consists of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane. The wood has lots of older character marks or distress marks which have accumulated mostly onto the outer slat boards. There are also some typical stress cracks in the base wood, although the trunk is still sturdy. Just about all of the trunks that we refinish have older distress marks and stress cracks. Here are the ... moretrunk's di mensions: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 23 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/2 inches. A unique feature on this trunk that you don't often find are the five slat boards running across the top. Most trunks have three or four, but not very often d you get five. It also has the three metal bands running up the front and across the top, and you usually don't have that many bands of metal on most trunks. Due to the slat boards and metal banding, it gives this beautiful trunk sixteen wooden sections to the top and sixteen wooden sections at the front of the trunk also. This beautiful trunk comes with the original working lock. We have matched up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. The metal parts that make up this fancy trunk are not brass. Since they are not brass, we have brush painted the metal by hand in black and gold leaf. This trunk maker used a lot of nice hardware when making this trunk. Antique Steamer Chest, Toy Doll size, Fair-Poor Condition, Needs restoration
This small antique. Doll or toy(possibly a sampler) steamer chest I bought myself at a tag sale in Vermont in the mid'60's and I suspect that it's from the late 1880's or'90's based on other similar items I've seen on ebay. It could be early 20th century. Perhaps I was 12 years old. I liked old things(and eventually became a history major) I used it to store"stuff" small toys and collectibles. It is not in very good condition. While all the corners are good, the key is intact, the lock mechanism is intact as well, it is missing the inner tray. The hinges and lift straps on the side are gone. A knot in the wood shrank and dropped away in the top(it's still there and needs to be re-attached) There are holes in the back of the trunk to attach a set of hinges that no longer exist. Up for your consideration is a vintage Multnomah of Portland Oregon Traveler's wardrobe. The picture make it look dirtier than it really is. Very sturdy but one of the clasps is missing. T he Eagle lock is not seized but will need a key. I nside the brackets for the hangers are in g reat condition as is the retainer. C omes with 3 original hangers. Antique flat top Trunk- Metal. Painted black with leather handles. There is one latch in the middle with a key hole. But I do not have the key and there are 2 buckle type latches(they work well) at either end and then also 2 slide in latches(they also work well) There are 3 hinges on the back side of the lid and they show some rust, but still function well. There has been some shelf or contact paper applied to part of the interior, but it is all loose and should come off easily. The bottom of the trunk is definitely in need of some TLC. I did not attempt any restoration, just wiped with a dry rag to remove loose dirt and dust. Other than the outside bottom of the trunk it is fairly good condition. Ready for its next home whether you decide to restore or leave as is. This is a really cool metal and leather steamer made by the Wichita Trunk Company. The metal has some rust. But no holes. The leather has some wear, but no rips. One handle is present, one is not. All hardware is intact. The lovely flocked interior is in good shape, but could use a little vacuuming in the bottom. The tray is there, but the leather hinges on one side of the cover has broken as can be seen in the photo. Hartmann Tourobe Wardrobe Steamer Trunk Antique HTF!! VERY RARE!
This antique Hartmann Tourobe is still in great condition. However. Like all original Tourobe's from the turn of the century, there are some scuff marks, scratches and such on the exterior. Look closely at the destination it traveled. It was sent from a teacher in Germany to an officer in Brooklyn New York. What a distance! Inside still looks great and has the original hangers. 6 total hangers, four for suits and two for pants, internal straps are complete. The case has two sections divided by the hinges: 4 divided sections for folded clothing and miscellaneous items secured with adjustable fastening fabric straps. a hanging wardrobe on one side which has a cotton twill covered pad to protect the suits. which fastens with two sets of stud buttons holding the clothes in place. 2 of the 3 buttons are functional. Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Working Lock & Key & Tray
Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk with Working Lock. 2 Keys and Tray My husband and I have refinished over 100 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice refinished flat top steamer t runk. The particular d iminsions for this are 30 1/4" length. 18 1/2" width and 20 1/2" heig ht. We refinished this particular trunk by taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. Inside and out. A fter t his. We applied 2 layers of tung oil to the trunk and tr ay. After lots of research on rest oration. We have found that it is better to finish old wood ... morewith tung oil as it helps preserve the wood from drying and cracking from the inside out. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made brow n leather hand l es. We also put on a new lock with 2 working keys. Th is trunk also ha s the two original latches newly painted and working properly.Attached to the lid of this trunk is the original stay so it will remain opened when wanted. Included with this trunk is the original tray. Newly sanded and finished. Working the way down to the b ottom there are 4 original metal casters that are securely in p lace and working properly. Super cool Avon Automobile Limited Edition Lidded Stein featuring the 1910 Stanley Steamer, 1936 MG, 1927 Bugatti, and the 1911 Ford Model T, made by Ceramarte of Brazil back in 1979. The 8.5" tall Serial Numbered Ceramic Stein with Hinged Pewter Lid is in excellent to like new condition, but has no box, looks and displays great with brilliant colors, and would be a super addition to your collection! Hartmann Steamer Wardrobe Trunk Floral Interior Antique 1920's
ANTIQUE HARTMANN GIBRALTERIZED VELVET CUSHION TOP 1920's WORDROBE TRUNK. The drawers and interior are covered with a Blue Floral cloth material and a Blue Cotton Velvet Cushion Top. This trunk is in good condition and exhibits the normal signs of wear a trunk would acquire through travel(See pics of travel stickers one reads PARIS) use and it's age. There are no keys. The latch seems to still be locked. But the trunk opens. The trunk measures about 40H" by 24W" by 41" Across when opened. All drawers are in*very nice* condition and it has 10 wardrobe hangers in perfect condition. Please take a CAREFUL look at the photos and ask any questions necessary.
