CONCENTRIC SPRING LOADED LIVE CENTER#9 JARNO TAPER LIVE CENTER VERY WELL CARED FOR My first awareness of these high precision centers was when I received one with a used lathe that I bought in 1982. and I've been a believer ever since) When that original one broke down(I'd used it for years but I didn't know I was supposed to grease it! I opened it up to see if I could replace bearings or something to make it workable again. I remember I was very quickly at a loss.what to do.so many parts! That was the END of that center. I couldn't re-assemble it.AND didn't know the maker would rebuild it. so I had to buy another. and that's when I discovered how costly they were. Over the years I've come to depend on them, especially for large, heavy parts. I've had them in my war chest ever since and have bought and sold ... moreand traded a few. This is one that I got just for my collection(or resale since I don't have any equipment right now that uses JARNO) it was USED when I bought it and has been very well cared for on my watch. Just in case the photos don't show the detail. The legend on the bottom end of the center is: 9J-S19, put there at the factory by a hand held engraving tool, in the manner of the time. I'm selling it because I'm tooling up a turret lathe and I need to raise funds for the parts I have to purchase. I also have a couple of other used centers like this. I'm a professional wood turner, running a job shop to the trade; I also have some proprietary items of my design that I turn metal parts for. My main use of these spring loaded centers is for larger wood pieces, with diameters up 20" and columns 8 feet and up, usually RPM around 500/ 600.
