Concentric Spring Loaded LIVE CENTER#16 JARNO TAPER WELL CARED FOR This was USED when I bought it and obviously has been very well cared for. It is clean. Well greased, and the point is excellent. The legend on the bottom end of this center is: 16J-111 put there at the factory by a hand held engraving tool, in the manner of the time. I'm selling them because I'm tooling up a turret lathe and I need to raise funds for the parts I have to purchase. I also have a several other used Concentric spring loaded centers like this. Kept in top condition, that are listed in my eBay store. Check out my! My first awareness of these high precision centers was when I received one with a used lathe that I bought in 1982. and I've been a believer ever since) When that original one broke down(I'd used it for years but I didn't know I was ... moresupposed to grease it! I opened it up to see if I could replace bearings or something to make it workable again. I remember I was very quickly at a loss.what to do.so many parts! That was the END of that center. I couldn't re-assemble it.AND didn't know the maker would rebuild it. so I had to buy another. and that's when I discovered how costly they were. Over the years I've come to depend on them, especially for large, heavy parts. I've had them in my war chest ever since and have bought and sold and traded a few. Incidentally. I'm a professional wood turner, running a job shop to the trade; I also have some proprietary items of my design that I turn metal parts for. One of my main use of these spring loaded centers is for larger wood pieces, with diameters up 20" and columns 8 feet and up, usually RPM around 500/ 600. If you have work on a lathe or mill that has to have subsequent work performed on another machine. Such as a grinder, having matched centers is a great plus for maintaining consistent high grade output. These centers have been doing just that and, thanks to the care they have obviously been given, can continue to produce great results for a long time to come. Also, if you're running a time ... moresensitive job that can't afford any delays, it's almost a necessity to have an identical, precision live center to fall back on in case of a machine accident or tool failure.
