Egyptian and American Indian designs. The shape of this interesting vase is similar to that of a classic Greek amphora or pouring vessel. MUNCIE” was stamped into the bottom of each piece around 1927. The“Orange Peel” glaze was developed in the late 1920s or early 1930s. The color of this vase is a pure orange with mica-like highlights. This vase is in excellent condition with no hairline cracks or crazing of the glaze. The vase has not been repaired in anyway. The piece has“MUNCIE” stamped into the bottom and is marked“5-A” indicative of the pottery finisher’s letter(A” and the molder’s number(5) The design number of the shape(136) is penciled on the bottom. ... moreCondition note: According to the authors of Collector’s Encyclopedia of Muncie Pottery. The vase was produced under the Royal Haeger artware line in the 1970's. The piece is a striking example of the volcanic"peel" glazes created by Alrun Osterberg(Guest) Who joined Haeger as chief designer and glaze chemist in 1973. The vase is well executed in the"Lime Peel" finish, with a nice distribution of frothy green highlights over the matte chocolate ground. The vase has a strong modern form with crisp mold and good definition to swirling"finger ridge" highlights on the surface and"cut" asymmetrical top rim. The vase has a strong presence measuring 12 1/2" high, 7" wide and 6 1/8" O.D. at the top rim. The ... morebase is embossed"HAEGER © 4207 USA" it does not have the original brown felt pad. Very Rare John Peel Lamp with original shade by Crown Devon Fieldings Made in England Rd No 796688 C1940 Dedicated to the 19th century huntsman John Peel 1776-1854 Lamp base: Perfect condition no chips. Cracks or crazing depicting hunting scenes in keeping with the well known verse. Which is also written on the lamp. Shade: Hand painted All original. Metal framed shade with original covering. Braid has in places become unwound, not a hard job to fix. Ivory coloured shade depicting hunting themes As the last photo shows. One panel of the cellulous shade has a split, I've never found this a problem as I had the lamp displayed with this panel to the rear. Perhaps a subtle repair with tape could fix this if required. The base measures 10" high including bulb holder. Max dia 7" Buyer may collect. Very fragile item. I'm sorry ... moreif the postage appears a little high but last year the Post office substantially raised their fees, and have just done so again. Because of the fragility of the shade I shall send this in two parcels to prevent damage. Offered is this Beautiful Antique Crown Devon Signed John Peel Brown Hunt Scene pitcher. This pitcher has the dates 1776- 1859 below the spout. There is a man in riding gear with a crop in his hand on one side with two dogs running and the opposite side has two riders with horses and four dogs with a horn and fox head below this scene. The handle is a fox. This pitcher or jug is 7 1/2 inches tall and 6 1/2 inches wide. This piece is marked on the bottom Made in England with a Crown and Crown Devon. Haeger Orange Peel Vase Large and Bulbous With Nice Drip Pattern
Beautiful vintage Haeger bulbous vase in a flat brown finish base with the hard to find orange peel drip glaze. The top rim is free-form style. As opposed to a symmetrical round rim. The vase is 7.5" tall- top rim diameter is approximately 7" and the bulbous body has a circumference of 27" at the largest point. The bottom has the remnants of the felt"Royal Haeger. USA" sticker. This vase displays very well. There are no chips or cracks. There is one slightly rough area on the rim(please see Photo#7) Which is neither a crack nor a chip, but may be a glaze miss or flake. It is barely discernable- detected more by touch than sight. There are water stains on the inside about 1.5" down from the rim(please see Photo#4) There are 3 bubble pops in the lava glaze- 1 still has the thin film over it, the other 2 look like ... morecraters with no covering.
