This is a great piece of theater and performing arts history. This item came from a single estate of a gentleman who amassed a collection of very rare images and autographs from early theater and film stars. This is an original oversized(8 X 6 1/2 inches) cabinet card photograph of famed Victorian era actress Helena Dacre. No photographer name is given on the card. Some wear to the corners. But a beautiful and flattering image of Ms. Dacre wearing what appears to be a stage costume. Of course, the watermark in main photo does not appear on the original. Guaranteed 100% original. Although I could not find an extensive biography for Ms. Dacre, I have found that she was active in theatre from 1885 to 1896. Along with european-style flower sprays in bianco-sopra-bianco. The arms are of a Dacre originally of Gillesland, a powerful and wealthy northern family which expired in the senior line in 1569. The impalement is of Weldon, the arms exactly as those of Robert Weldon of St. Lawrence Jewry in London, whose daughter Anne married Lord Trevor of Bromham(for whom an earlier service had been made) Reference: Howard.
