At this stage in my life I’ve come to realize that many of the projects I had intended to complete will probably never get done so I’ve decided to begin selling those items that have been on the shelf for quite a long time. Being both an EE and a clockmaker. The 113AR has always been a favorite of mine for a number of reasons. It seems like the perfect melding of electronics and mechanics all on one chassis. Although it’s true that General Radio did something similar much earlier on– although very much more primitive and considerably larger– this was the first really practical precision clock divider that had been commercially produced. I ... morebelieve that it was intended to be used with the first Cesium Beam Standard that HP produced, the HP5060. The HP113 was designed in the late 50’s and manufactured in 1961. It had a short life and only appeared in perhaps two HP catalogs soon to be supplanted by the HP115BR which was also a mechanical clock but in the form of a speedometer- considerably less“clocklike” and much less interesting mechanically. It was pretty clear that HP mechanical engineers were not clockmakers as the complicated gearing in the clock consisted primarily of involute style gears where a clockmaker would have used traditional epicycloidal gearing. At this stage in my life I know that many of the projects I had intended to complete will never get done so I’ve decided to begin selling those items that have been on the shelf for quite a long time. Being both an EE and a clockmaker. The 113BR has always been a favorite of mine for a number of reasons. It seems like the perfect melding of electronics and mechanics all on one chassis. Although it’s true that General Radio did something similar much earlier on– although very much more primitive and considerably larger– this was the first really practical precision clock divider that had been commercially produced. The HP113 was designed in the late 50’s and manufactured in 1961. ... moreIt had a short life and only appeared in perhaps two HP catalogs soon to be supplanted by the HP115BR which was also a mechanical clock but in the form of a speedometer- considerably less“clocklike” and much less interesting mechanically. It was pretty clear that HP mechanical engineers were not clockmakers as the complicated gearing in the clock consisted primarily of involute style gears where a clockmaker would have used traditional epicycloidal gearing. The movement was designed so that the seconds hand could be independently adjusted without affecting the rest of the clock so that it could be set to“12” without affecting the hour and minute hands. Starting the HP113 was like cranking an early automobile. After power was applied, first the dividers had to be started by flipping an internally mounted switch once up and then down. Then the knob attached to the back of the 1000 hz motor had to be spun once or twice to start the motor. Once running, the faint and distinctive whine of the 1000 Hz motor can be clearly heard along with the noise of the gear train running. Up for auction is a HP 105A and HP 59309A Oscillator- Clock set. Since acquiring them I have used these on my night stand as a bed side clock for the last couple years. I have since acquired an Austron 1210 and am putting these up for sale as a set. Both in working order and the oscillator has been kept calibrated to my GPS Locked Rubidium standard. It exhibits extremely low drift. Because of their age these are sold as-is where is but you can see from the photos that they are in working order. I am including the 59309A manual with this set. There is no manual for the 105A but it is on line. If you need more info or pictures please feel free to ask. I doubt that you'll find a better deal on these pieces ANYWHERE! Here is a series of calibration test pieces. I am not familiar with this equipment other than I believe in is used in the BNC calibration systems. This was with a group of test equipment new in bags and this was in a zip lock. It has a Hewlett Packard 909D Termination DC 26.5 GHz. Serial 02769 and option 010 and 040. There is a Midwest Microwave Model 2670 and a Tektronix 011-0049-01 Term 50 Ohm 2 Watt. It all appears in good shape. I am a buyer/reseller of vintage. Collectible, and antique items. I am not extremely knowledgeable on anything, but moderately knowledgeable on a lot of things. I love to collect and can not contain my urge to purchase quality items of interest.
