Hardy Zenith Sintrix 486-4, 4pc 8'6" 4wt Fly Rod
I am the original owner of this Hardy Zenith 8'6" 4wt rod. And it is in almost new condition. I bought it last year and fished it about 20 times. It is a 4 piece rode, and casts really smoothly. I am selling it because I have a 5 weight rod already, and need to sell this rod so I can buy a steelhead rod. There are no scratches or dings in the rod. I was very careful with it. The cork has a small chunk taken out of it, I included a close up of that area in my photos. The rod tube also has some scratches on it from transporting the rod, but it is only cosmetic. This is a Hardy's"The Houghton" No. E5296" 10' 6" 3piece 2 tip fly rod. This rod dates from 1940 and looks to have been never restored. But looks to have been revarnished. The spear and reel fittings to the butt section are in alloy. The butt and top rings are agate lined. It has"lockfast" joints and all of the rings are present and attached very well. The rod appears to be straight, but the tips have a slight set to the right. The close green whipping is in very good condition. The rod has some scuffs and scrapes, but in very good condition for it's age. The alloy butt is impressed with"Made By Hardy Bros Ltd. Alnwick, England" and"Pat No. 20875/22" to the reel ring. Royal Appointment Crest, and the number"E5296" 1940) Just above the handle, written in Indian Ink is"No. ... more246936. Palakona Regd. The Houghton" The rod seems to be in it's original state. SUPERB HARDY“JET” 9FT Wt#6 FIBRE TUBE TROUT FLY ROD Exquisite 2-piece rod with blue Hardy bag AND Hardy 3¼" Viscount 130 fly reel + case WITH Full length Wt#6F fly line A complete Hardy package with which you could literally walk straight down to the water's edge and start fishing. The JET 6 is a great 2-piece lake/reservoir trout fly rod from Hardy Brothers of Alnwick. England being 9ft(275cm) in length and in great condition. Please see my photos. It casts a weight#6 line and is made from Hardy's Fibre-Tube and dates from 1972- the letters H/O scripted on the fibre-tube indicates this date. To compliment this super rod I have included a Hardy Viscount 130- 3.25" fly reel(with case) which is loaded with a floating Wt#6 fly line(it being of a light blue colour is probably Air-Cel) The rod casts the line magnificently ... moreand balances perfectly. All the rings. On the rod, are intact and show little or no wear or grooving with the spigot join giving a perfectly tight fit with no slackness and is connected by lining the figure 68 up on both sections- this aligns all the rings correctly. All the rings, with the exception of the first one, are made of(I think) tungsten and are snake eyes. The first ring is a small round ring with a ceramic insert. The original orange whippings are all immaculate and I can recall there being the same colour as my Hardy Jet 6 rod from the early 1970s. So can positively say they are original. The Hardy reel seating is threaded and of a light alloy with a little bit of tarnishing while the corks are immaculate. Which is a bit of a surprise, as the original plastic cover has not been removed which would usually cause some sweating of the corks- but none whatsoever is evident. I would, however, suggest that the lucky winner of this super rod& reel package remove the covering and let the corks breathe. As far as the Hardy Viscount 130 reel is concerned it is in excellent working condition and dates from the 1940/50s. It has a sliding centre latch. For removing the spoo

Up for auction is this fairly scarce Hardy Bros. 9’3” two-piece“Steelhead” Fibalite glass fly rod circa 1960’s. It comes with a 4 inch cork threaded fighting butt section and the original Hardy blue rod bag. What is nice about this bag is it still has the original Hardy paper tag attached describing this rod including instructions. The bag has a separate Velcro slot to store the fighting butt. It has a screw-down reel seat with Hardy’s name on the bottom piece as well as a hook keeper. This rod is in decent condition throughout with the original plastic wrapping still on the cork handle as well as the fighting butt. This rod weighs in at 190 grams(approximately 6.7 ounces) In addition to the Hardy Logo. Neatly hand-written on the rod above the cork handle is“Steelhead” 9’3” 230 cm, the letters D/C and the number 13 is written on both the ... morebutt section as well as the tip section. For auction we have a Hardy Brothers Richard Walker Reservoir Fly Rod.This rod is a super rare F/K marked rod which makes it made around 1970 and was only made for two or three years and it was in effect the prototype for the Richard Walker series of rods.The whipping color is different to the later long running series and the reel seat is of an end butt type which was not used on a rod of this size as the series developed. Jack" Notley fished the River Avon for over 80 years. He was born in 1893 at Diptford Rectory. Jack began teaching fishing and fly casting on the Avon in 1919 and continued for over 50 years. Two of his first clients were Their Royal Highnesses Prince and Princess Arthur of Connaught. The Prince was a grandson of Queen Victoria. Mr. Notley knew John James Hardy personally and through him he"got more pupils than I could deal with and had to turn some down" John James and his brother William formed the tackle firm Hardy Brothers in 1873. In 1911 J.J. Hardy became World Champion Fly Caster with a a world record cast of 81 feet. Jack Notley ... moredied in 1988. His views are still valid. He stresses the importance of learning to roll(switch) cast and learning to cope with overhanging bankside vegetation as well as the importance of balancing rod and line. Jack knew how to overcome client's casting faults such as the'broken wrist' and using too much force instead of allowing the rod to cast the line. Jack Notley was not enamoured of modern fast actioned'tippy' rods. He used- and sold- split cane rods which were made to his specifications by John Bazett in Salisbury. Made with carbon sintrix material, this rod is 60% stronger and 30% lighter than conventional fly rod. Andy Mills won the last two Gold Cup Tarpon Tournaments with the 11 weight. I fish with the 8 and 9 weight every day. I have landed 30 pound Snook and 40 pound Tarpon with my 8 weight. Even when a big Jack ran my 8 weight under my push pole and it bent in an L shape it did not break and landed the fish. Absolutely a dream to cast and I can cast mine all day long without tiring. Diese wunderschöne Lachsrute habe ich selbst vor vielen Jahren in England gekauft. Ich habe nie mit ihr gefischt. Sie befindet sich also in einem sehr guten Zustand. Ob der Vorbesitzer je damit gefischt hat. Weiß ich nicht. Natürlich eignet sie sich zum Fischen. Aber auch als Schmuck- oder Sammlerstück. Wird sie begeistern. Die Rute ist drei geteilt und verfügt über zwei Spitzen. Auf der Abschlußkappe des Rutengriffs steht die Nummer: H 31778.
