All of the mechanical and functional aspects are in very good condition and the reel feels and sounds very smooth. There are no bent or warped parts. There are some abrasions and scratches on this item(as shown in pictures) Someone has scratched their initials(NFM" NFFM" and what looks like"VIFF" into 3 interior sections on the reel(not visible when reel is operationally assembled) and 2 exterior areas(where it is mostly visible under the right light) Please refer to the pictures(I have documented these 5 areas) The black paint on the interior of the spool is worn and there are several scratches including one of the initialed areas(refer to photo) The top of the drag adjustment knob has 2 small nicks. The other 2 interior areas where the initials occur are approximately 1 inch from the exposed bearings on both sides of the body of the reel. The interior spool side is where it appears to have the"VIFF" There is also the outline of what appears to be some sticker that has fallen off(located next to the exposed bearings in photo) The final areas are on the exterior front and back face of the reel and I did not notice them until I had the reel under the perfect light(I owned this reel for years without seeing this) Also. There is an abrasion on the frame at the bottom of the reel(next to the bottom post) If you are considering buying this reel then you are most likely a serious angler and or collector so please study ALL pictures very closely with the zoom function. But I believe it's been around for a while! The ... morereason I said VINTAGE in the listing is because the cursive/scroll writing on the reel looks different from the newer"Flyweight" reels from Hardy, but I really don't know for sure! Anyhow. The brand of this reel is HOUSE OF HARDY and it was made in England. It looks to be in excellent shape, which doesn't surprise me, as my father always kept everything in pristine condition! The reel says in cursive, Made by House of Hardy, England" and it also says, The Flyweight" There is a peach- coloured line wrapped around the reel. It comes with a blue. Vinyl-type zip case which also says House of Hardy on the top. It looks like there is a small piece of vinyl coming off from the case, near the back of the case, where the zipper begins. Please see photos! He also attached a little tag on the outside of the case and it says"2 WT" So, I'm not really sure what that means. Maybe the line is a 2 weight line? Inside the case is a little pamphlet/paperwork from House of Hardy that talks about how to care for your reel. Etc. My dad was a big fly-fisherman. He fished in rivers. Mostly in Connecticut, Maine and Montana. He'd be happy to know this was going to one of his fellow fly-fishermen! Up for auction is a four piece Hardy/Greys 8 weight fast action fly rod. This rod is the real deal. It is not the Greys models that get imported from Hong Kong. It is authentic Hardy materials from England. The rod is only around a year old. And it comes with the factory warranty card. The rod is 9'6" of launch pad for your flies. It would make an excellent salmon/steelhead stick. It cast very good on windy days. The rod is an 8 weight, but prefers a 9 weight floating line, or 8 weight sinker with a 500 grain shooting head. It is one of my favorite rods in my collection, but my collection has gotten out of control since I started building my own custom rods, so a few of them have to go. Really nice condition Sportsmail Fibalite 10’ 6” rod. Looks very little used with immaculate unmarked blank. Eyes and whippings. Cork is in excellent condition too. There is just a little rubbing and tarnish on the knurled reel locking collar but quite superficial. I think Hardy used these blanks on some of their rods but this one is distributed by‘Sportsmail’ Can’t find much details about them but did read somewhere on a fishing forum they were quite desireable. The cloth bag I think is not the original as it’s a couple inches too short but at least offers some protection. This is a 1970 custom built fly rod by Lowndes from Hardy Blanks(Probably made and supplied by Fisher) measures 98 inches from the tip to the cork handle. handle measures a foot, cork specifically measures 7.5 inches. Hardy classic glass fiber rod circa 1973 designed by the famed John E. Tarantino for Hardy. The rod is 7' long. 2 piece, and is rated for a 4 weight line as inscribed on the rod. This rod has been in the possession of the original owner since 1973 and comes complete with the original blue cloth rod bag with Hardy logo and a new aluminum rod case. The rod features an original Hardy aluminum cap and ring reel seat with diagonal knurling on the slide band and the Hardy logo roll stamped on the formed pocketed butt cap. The blank color is a rich brown with burnt orange wraps and brown tipping. The original owner's name is inscribed(small) in white ink on the rod blank. The stripping guide is in a classic soldered frame of the period with ceramic ring. The snake guides are hard chrome in the traditional"reverse" English twist. ... moreThe rod features high strength traditional"spigot" ferrules. The blank is constructed using high strength S- glass fiber but the action is soft and nearly identical to that found on many bamboo rods of this length which was Hardy's design objective for this rod as at the time bamboo was the standard material of choice. At the time, John E. Tarantino was considered the world's best fly caster and as such was used as by Hardy as the designer of this series of rods. A limited quantity of these rods were made and very few remain in existence. They are very collectable but are at the same time very usable as a fly fishing rod today for delicate fly presentation to wary trout.

Vintage Classic Fly Rod--Palakona "The Hardy Wanless" 6lb--1955 Reg.#--2 piece
This is a nice Vintage. Classic 2 piece Fly Rod made in England by Hardy. It is the" Palakona" The Hardy Wanless" 6lb rod made in 1955. The Registration number is H4592. This has been hanging in a garage of a riverfront home in northern NY for quite some time. The ferrules look good and clean but will need a little lubrication. The finish on the rod is in good condition. No visible chipping, cracking, or crazing. This is a 2 pc rod, the butt end has 1(one) larger ring/guide and the tip section has 6(six) smaller rings/guides. All of the rings/guides are tied tightly with crimson and green whipping. The larger 1st ring may have been rewrapped on the cork side. as the whipping is a bronze color.yet it looks to be original(picture#1) All 7(seven) rings do show some minor rust, the last ring is lined(agate) The cork handle does ... moreshow some use, with a few areas where small pieces of cork have disappeared.probably from a fly hook. Hardy the Palakona#5 6'8" 2/2 fly rod. In amazing condition- I have taken lots of photos so you can look. Cork is great and only slightly soiled. wraps are perfect. Ferrules fit tight and snug. Blueing still perfect, varnish perfect. The rod is dead straight. Perfect clear agate stripping guide. Original tube with label(which has aged a bit) Only problem is a slight tear in the original bag at the bottom- size of the female ferrule. I can email more photos(of the bag and tube. But I am limited to 12 photos here) D/L on the script. This is a very hard to find rod that is almost impossible to find in a 2/2 configuration and in anywhere near this condition. Whilst rated for a#5. I enjoyed it with a#4. Casts very nicely in close, but can throw amazing tight loops at 40 feet- simply one of the best dry fly bamboo rods out there. Offered here is my 3 section 15` Double Handed IM6 Tweedside Carbon Salmon Fly Rod. This Rod is in Superb condition with no damage whatsoever throughout. Very light use and absolutely near mint. Beautifully Crafted 15ft IM6 Carbon Blank that has a line rating of AFTM 10- 12. This is an extremely powerful Rod indeed with a mid tip action and a feel through to the handle. The double handle is cork and a total of 26 inches in length including the steel butt end cap with half round rubber. The reel seat and lined eyes are by Fuji.
