VINTAGE BORAXO WALL MOUNT POWDER SOAP DISPENSER
Up for auction is a vintage Boraxo wall mount powder soap dispenser. As you can see from pics its in good condition. Original bright white porcelain paint. Lid has some paint chip areas and some rust colored spots but overall does not take away from the dispenser. The inside is nice and clean and there is still some powder soap residue in it. It does have the plunger and it moves up and down like it should. Dispensing the soap. Line up arrow on front of lid with black dot on front of dispenser and lid lifts off and is attached by chain which is also in great condition. Place lid back down and twist back to left and it locks in place. It mounts on a wall by the attached bracket. Possibly once found in a restaurant/gas station bathroom. It is marked on the top with what I believe is the brand, Lathurn. It is almost marked"American Dispenser Co. New York Pat. 2067601" I have looked that up and that patent number dates to 1937. The dispenser is chrome, measuring 6" top to bottom, having the dispenser piece extend out ... moreabout 6" from the wall. The body tapers from a 2" diameter bottom up to about a 3" diameter at the top. The chrome looks better in person that the pictures portray it. There are spots where the soap probably dripped that show some aging. There is one wall bracket attached to the dispenser and 2 others included. The interior has a glass insert that shows age and a little discoloration, certainly from use. I have not tried to remove it. The bottom of that glass is marked"Made in Canada" Overall I would say this is very good for the age. The only issue I find is that the part you would push in and the soap would come out will not move. I would imagine any soap residue may have that stuck and possibly with a little cleaning may free up. This estate find would be a great display piece, usable or not, in your bathroom filled with old school type items such a paper towel dispenser or vintage condom machine!
