Ideal for use with microtubes, the homogenizer works well with samples from 0.1ml to 250ml(depending upon the generator probe used) The D-1000 is a rotor stator homogenizer, and works by drawing the sample, in liquid, into the generator probe with the variable speed rotor, and then forcing it out through the slots in the stator. This achieves mechanical shearing of the sample. As the sample is repeatedly drawn up and forced through the stator, additional shearing takes place. Most samples are completely homogenized in 30 seconds are less. A powerful, 130W motor drives the rotor at speeds from 8,500 to 30,000 rpm. Speed is adjustable in six steps to meet sample processing needs. A separate on/off switch allows the homogenizer to be left at the appropriate setting. Generator probes are available in four sizes for the D 1000. The 5mm and 7mm diameter have a 50mm length for use with samples in microtubes. This homogenizer works perfectly. Bought it for a project to make mayonnaise. But it didnt work well for that. It tends to break O/W emulsions, which cannot tolerate the extreme turbulence. So I am selling it. This homogenizer was only used for food applications. Mixing head and power supply are included. 110VAC. 710 Watts. Stand + clamp are included. Everything in the picture is included. The setup is ready to use and complete. Continuously variable speed control 0-30.000 RPM. The mixing head has a carbide bushing and blades that are in perfect condition. Rotation is extremely smooth. Mixing head measures 11.8mm OD x 16cm long. But I guess that means its 10mm"nominal" I glued the plug. Because the cord insulation was damaged where it attaches to the plug. This thing looks pretty good physically so I was pretty disappointed to turn it on and it sounds like maybe the bearings in the motor are going bad. Very noisy, particularly at lower speeds. I guess perhaps it could be some other portion of the unit making all the noise. Regardless, it will no doubt need to be repaired or refurbished before it goes back into service, and is sold for parts or repair ONLY. Given that you know it has issues I cannot see any reason a return would be necessary and in fact none will be accepted. Buy it to own it. From a university surplus sale. A Griffith labs GL-88. I think this is a lab homogenizer. It has a gigantic(for the size of the unit) 5hp 3-phase motor. It does not have a plug- I wired it to a spare I have for testing purposes but you'll have to provide your own plug, or hardwire it. The'blade' isn't so much a blade as it is a big block of metal.
