Vintage General Fireproofing Company Two Drawer Card File Woodgrain Metal USA
This is a vintage metal double index card file. It has the original top plate done in what looks like brass. It says" GF" with Wings and"The General Fireproofing Co. Youngstown. Ohio Made in U.S.A. It also has what looks like brass pulls. It measures overall 17" long not including the handles on the pulls, by 11" wide by 4 3/4" tall. The interior of the drawers is 5 1/4" wide by 15 1/4" long and 3 3/4" tall. Each drawer has a ratcheting card stop that can be adjusted to hold the cards up tight and straight. It is also coming with a set of"Weis No. 3255 Made in U.S.A. heavy cardstock complete Alphabet divider cards along with about 20 blank divider card and a set of partial set of"Smead's Pressboard Card Index Guide No. 511-12- Manufactured by The Smead Manufacturing Company Hastings, ... moreMinnestoa, U.S.A" month name cards. It is missing August. These cards are used and vintage and do have some yellow discoloration and a couple of corner bends and some smudges but still could be used. The file box is all metal and has a woodgrain finish overall except for the underside bottom and interior. This is painted sort of a primer red. It does have some scratches and I encourage you to look closely at the photos. It has a couple of bad scratches on the top and a few small ones on the other exposed sides and larger scratches on the bottom. ALSO all sides including the top have some of what I call"pox" marks, usually caused from being exposed to moisture, that appears as small white dots overall. I don't think these will come off. This vintage four drawer. Heavy-duty, metal, legal sized file cabinet was made by Yawman Erbe manufacturing in Rochester, N.Y. in the 1950's. It stands 50.5" high, is 18" wide and 28" deep. it has a few bumps and scratches, but is in otherwise excellent condition. It is made to hold hanging files. It is missing the long screw-in pin for the bottom drawer. I'm not sure what that is used for anyway. It is too large and heavy for UPS so you must pick it up or make your own arrangements for truck freight pick up and delivery. It iweighs approximately 160 pounds.

The cool vintage faceplate has a globe. Steelmaster in a cool old font, and then Art Steel Co, Inc. New York, U.S.A. The handles are a little rusted. But I'm sure they would clean up with a little elbow grease. There are a few minor marks and scratches from from normal use. Measures 12 1/4" wide. 16" deep not including handles, 5" tall. FANTASTIC 35 DRAWER VINTAGE METAL FILE CABINET WITH BRASS PULLS GREAT CONDITION
This is about as cool as a vintage file cabinet comes. The pictures don't really do it justice. It has 35 drawers all with brass pulls( some are painted over) and the drawer is pat. for what seems to be 1918 but it is most likely a bit later. The weight and construction of this piece is about as good as it gets even with the drawers all out it must weigh a few hundred pounds. Each drawer works and slides fine. There is a tag on the top of the maker which says Metwood Wood Office Equipment New York. The size overall is 55" tall by 25" wide and 25" deep. This could be stripped as there are no rust problems or left in the industry green. I think this cabinety is about as good as they get for that period both quality construction and overall look. You are looking at a Vintage green metal filing box with light gold painted trim along the outsides and front. Made by Hamilton Co. Fireproof Furniture in Ohio. I do not know what year but I do know it came from my great great aunts estate and she passed when she was 91 and that was over 30 years ago. It is 14 inches long and 5 inches tall and 6 1/4 inches wide. Heavy duty fireproof filing box. I would guess library cards or index cards or recipes.
