ANTIQUE PROSTHESIS RIGHT LEG 1920's Era PROSTHETIC Straps on like Suspenders, Vintage/antique prosthesis right leg. This is likely from the teens to early 20's era. Overall. This artificial limb is in excellent condition for it's years. I believe it to be wood with some type of flesh colored smooth coating applied. It has 1-1/2" wide cloth leather combination adjustable straps with all metal snaps for retaining the supports at the correct height. The straps went around the shoulders much like suspenders. The larger round cords attached at the thigh are leather. They enter the thigh area and run on a double wood pulley system within the leg. All working components work excellent. All straps and construction solid portions of the leg are in strong excellent condition. I'm guessing that this limb was originally designed ... morefor a lady. It appears rather feminine at about 9.75" long x 3" wide. Bottom of the foot is covered with leather. I took a couple of closeup pictures where it has a slot. It would appear that this could be access for adjustments. One screw and two 1/4" bolts secure the heel. It flexes at the knee very easily. Top portion to knee area is about 15-1/2" Bottom of heel to the knee area is about 18-1/4" Leg straight from heel to top is about 31-1/4" Please enlarge all pictures to see the condition and details the best. All City double leather toe straps and nylon cages.
I bought theses All-city double straps and nylon toe cages new from my local bike shop. They were professionally installed and only used for a couple of weeks. These double straps lock your foot in and feel very stable when riding. The leather is thick and of good quality. There are some scuffs from installation which is to be expected with this set up but they are in over all very good condition.
