Antique * Buermann Eureka ? Spurs w/ Straps Double Button Wide Band Late 1800s ?
I believe these are antique Buermann(August Buermann) Eureka spurs. Perhaps dating to the 1880s. I could not find any maker's marks, but I only dared to remove the straps from one side of each spur as the leather straps are very old and I did not want to further damage them. The spurs are light in weight. Rather thin metal and some of the original silver coloring still remains on the spurs, as best seen in the 5th picture. A magnet will stick to both of the spurs. Each spur is 5" in length. The inside measurement of the open end of one of the spurs is 2 3/4" and the other spur measures 3" The wide band of each measures 1 1/4" at it's widest width. Both spurs have double buttons. The rowels spin freely and are 1 1/4" wide. The straps are very old. Very worn and not usable. These spurs are completely hand made, using only the simplest of hand tools; i.e. hand forged, hand filed, hand chiseled, hand drilled& hand silver inlaid and hand silver engraved. These spurs are BIG and HEAVY, weighing 3 pounds 7.2 ounces! The inside measurement of the heel bands at the open end is about 3 5/16" and will fit a large Man's sized boot. The spurs measure 6 7/8" long overall, with heavy, 3/8" thick heel bands that are 1 9/16" tall and domed on the outside curvature. It is very difficult to chisel inlay a curved surface; especially in such minute detail. The entire outside heel bands, including the rounded ends, have a fine, wide border decoration in an Aztec pattern(or Greek Key motif) each individual panel is hand chiseled, silver inlaid, hand stipple(textured) engraved; and then sculptured with another engraving tool for contrast. The overall quality is excellent, and done by the hands of a Master craftsman. Only a wealthy gentleman would have been able to commission such a fancy pair of custom made spurs. This Eagle pattern is different that the few other pairs of known Eagle spurs. This is the Maker's mark for Gordon Hayes of Santa Margarita, California, and is listed in Bits& Spur Techniques by Ned& Jody Martin. The spurs also have a number 95104 on the ends of the inside heel bands. I am unsure what his numbering system is; however, it is definitely NOT a zip code. As there is no such zip code in the United States Postal Service data base on their web site. These spurs were custom made in 1995, appear to be 100% original. Rare Vintage 3 Heart on Copper Mounted Kelly Rodeo Spurs with Straps Here is a vintage pair of rare 3 Hearts mounted on copper Western Kelly Rodeo Spurs by P. M. Kelly. The spurs are marked Rodeo on the band under the button. They are in excellent vintage shape. The buckles on the straps are marked with an Anchor. This is a very nice and rarely seen set of Kelly Spurs. P. M. Kelly- Kelly Brothers Bit/Spur Maker 1903-1965 P. M. Kelly began making spurs in Childress. Texas in 1903 moving to Oklahoma and Hansford, TX before going to work for McChesney in Pauls, OK in 1910. By 1911 Kelly was ready to open his own shop in Dalhart, Texas with his new partner Clyde Parker(known as KB& P or Kelly Bros& Parker) The partnership dissolved in 1919 but the Kelly Bros continued making bits and spurs moving to El Paso, Texas in 1925. The Kelly Bros ... moremade their own patterns for bits and spurs marking them under the button on the outside of the spur or sometimes inside the spur. In later years Kelly put out spurs marked"Rodeo. In 1965 the business was sold to James Renalde of Denver. I have not cleaned or polished these spurs choosing rather to leave the original patina as is- I leave that up to your discretion. Up for auction is a well used original M1917 mounted canteen with leather strap. It was issued to mounted cavarly, as the leather strap and hook attached to the saddle- cover is stamped US on the front and on the inside of the right button flap is stamped what looks like RIA 1919, comes with canteen which is newer and stamped G.P.F.CO. 1943. the canteen cover has heavy soiling as seen in photos but has no holes or rips and stiching is complete, leather strap on sides and top toward the hook is still soft in good condition, the leather on the bottom by the buckle feels dry or brittle, both lift the dot snaps are in good working order and all strap keepers are in place and attached- As a bonus we are including what looks to be a WW1 ultility belt- we do not see any markings but it is khaki colored, this is a fixed priced auction so send us ... moreany reasonable offers, this item and other military items came out of an estate we purchased and you are receiving them in the same condition we received them in, other items that will be listed include a 1918 cavarly mess kit with pouch and also a couple of Korean era travel bags/sacks. Although quite similar. They are different. Please supersize the photos, they ARE THE DESCRIPTION. I cannot speculate on age other than OLD and although I assume American could certainly have been South of the border. We do not know horse gear so please jusge from the photos. The one with the double holes is about 5 3/8 in. tall and the bottom where the foot rests is about 4 1/2 in. by 2 7/8 in. The leather strap is 22 1/2 in long as it hangs doubled, has a lot of excess as well with wide slot openings. The other one with the big oval opening is about 5 3/8 in. tall, the foot part is about 4 in. by 1 3/4 in. the sides to this one actually bows out, so it's ... morewider than the foot rest at its widest part at about 4 5/8 in. Vintage 1960s Vietnam /SWISS ARMY Military M 71 HELMET / Leather Straps
This is a Swiss M71 combat helmet; Designed in the 1960’s the M71 ended the 50 plus year life of its predecessor the M1918. Produced by the Bronzewarenfabrik Turgi(BT) This helmet was produced in 1970’s. The interior is fitted with a mid-sized 57-58 liner. The odd shape of the M71 brings assumption by many that it is a paratrooper helmet however; the M71 was only used by ground troops. A second variation of the M71 was introduced in 1991, it was identical to the M71 but added a D-ring to the rear, used to hang the helmet from during long marches etc. This helmet is an example of the first variation and void of the D-ring hanger. As you can see in the pictures i offer you this great looking M34 type"pony fur" backpack. The backpack is from an old private collection and it is a guaranteed original. The item is in really good condition. But it needs cleaning and the leather is dried so it needs attention too, but the pony fur not drops. It has got all of it's parts, except one buckle from the left sided shoulder strap. It has got MATCHED shoulder straps, what is really rare. The straps ha got nice visible makers mar but i couldn' made a good photo from it. I think it is a really nice example. The bag was made in Fanz Brehme's factory at Walsrode in 1939. Up for bid is a pair of STERLING SILVER early Calif style inlaid spurs. They have a heel opening 3" And the overall lenght is 7" They have a 3/4" drop shank and a 2" rowel. They are single mounted. Sterling silver inlaid heel band, inlaid shank. The heel chains are broken and missing. I believe these to be 30 or 40 yrs old, unmarked E. Garcia, that's just my opinion. The straps were made by Bill years ago from old leather and show little use, they have nickle plated 2" concho. They are dented, rusted& scratched. It has its own shoulder straps so it operates independently of the frame and loose shoulder straps. The sustainment pouch can be used for food when the large bags are loaded. The grenade pouches are small but work well for your GPS, compass, cell phone, etc. All attach with the PALS.
