Uranium Vaseline Glassware - Daisy and Button
I am selling this set of uranium(Vaseline) glassware. These are very nice daisy and button dishes. I picked these up in an antique shop in Iowa some years ago. I have not seen these type of dishes in any antique shop or on E-bay since. These dishes have more of a yellow color to them than the typical green uranium/Vaseline glass. There are six(6) square dishes that measure 3.75" x 3.75" There are also five(5) irregular shaped dishes that measure 5.50" x 5.50" I have included pictures of the dishes under black light to show their intensity. My black light was not large enough to accommodate all of the dishes. All of the dishes do illuminate with the same intensity. The pictures do not do any justice to these dishes. The inside of these dessert glasses also has 9 hearts. The inside of the glass has ribs that start at the bottom of the glass and look as though they blossom into a flower as they progress up to the top of the glass. Culver Glassware Roly Poly shape with Green & overlaid with cracked Gold framing
5 pieces of CULVER glassware. These glasses are vintage and in excellent condition. This is called the Emerald Scroll Design and the glass shape is their Roly Poly. A little synopsis on how these wonderful glasses and their various derivatives were decorated- These particular glasses were screen-printed with a ceramic ink in a green color first and then this was followed with another printing of a clear coating of adhesive ink. The ink as an adhesive. Made it possible so glass powder could be poured on the glass piece, while it was hand rotated. The glass powder remained on the clear screen-printed coating and it formed a frame like design over and around the green ink. Then the glass was fired in a L ear. For the uninitiated. A L ear reaches the temperature of a kiln(approximately 1 1 00 degrees Fahrenheit) yet it makes it possible to move ... morethe glass in a similar fashion to a conveyer belt. This process takes many hours. The belt which supports the glass is made out of steel mesh so it can withstand such high firing temperatures. After the glass cooled off. Gold ink was printed over the bonded fused glass powder. The glass was fired once more so the gold would also fuse on the glass. It must be noted that each print following the first one. Had to be indexed manually using a pointer and aligning previous prints by eye. This was necessary so all passes would line up to each other. The actual screen printing process was all performed on manual printers. There were no semi or fully automatic silk screen printers used. Th is painstaking process produced the final 22 Carat gold deposit. This gave the Culver glassware a special one of a kind raised shiny and crackled gold finish. This is as close I can get to the process if I remember correctly. T hat's why Culver Glass is so sought after. and it's a part of Americana. Most of this type of glassware w as made in the 60's and 70's and it is shown often on older programs in Movies or TV. S& H in the lower US for these glasses is $13.25

The box is spotted, shows stains, has pieces of the original price tags and has threaded strapping tape around the box and glasses. ONE OF THE GLASSES HAS A PIECE BROKEN OFF THE BASE. It is hard to see, but it is about 3/4 inch long and runs along the rounded base. The same glass has a small crack in the same base. It is the one in the picture just below the store tag remnant, along the right side of the base. All the other glasses look good.
