Qing Dynasty This lovely Chinese Blue Porcelain Water Dropper measures approximately 2.37" tall x 1.58" wide x 2.86" long. Although made of hollow. Cast porcelain, this water dropper weighs about 3.9 oz. or 109 grams. We estimate this antique water dropper is about 100 years old and was made during the last Chinese Dynasty-the Qing Dynasty(1644-1911) This Duck shaped water dropper has a lovely tan-crackled finish that is in the style of the famous Ge Kiln in China. see photo for a 4x macro view} The piece is unmarked. But appears to come from the famous Ge Kiln as their crackle finished with high glaze is legendary. Please see 4x macro photos for details. Water droppers were used to add water by the drop to the solid ink that had been placed ... moreinto an ink stone. The artist would grind and mix the solid ink with the water to make liquid ink. The water could be added by the drop from the mouth spout on the Duck by putting one's index finger over the small hole on the rear of the water dropper{see photo# 3} By just slightly lifting one's finger off the vent hole. It would break the vacuum and allow a drop of water to flow out the spout. This is a lovely and unique example that would look SUPER in your collection! Condition Very Good condition with No chips. A Fine/Large Copper-Red Underglazed Peach Shaped Water Dropper- Korea. Late Joseon dynasty, early 1900s A finely modeled/carved as a large peach formed water dropper applied oveall grey tinged white glaze. Some white glaze unevenly applied and thick underglaze dark green and light green(copper-red supposed to be) with an upright leave carved in thick relief to the body and incised with short lines to delineate veins with underglaze white. The thick stems of the peach also molded in relief to the body and one floral head spots around upper body in underglaze copper-red, foot rim and base unglazed. The unglazed foot rim and base mass caused by insufficient firing and lower body, otherwise very fine condition without any chips or repairs. Measurements: 10cm d. x 10cm h. 4” d. x 4” h.
