All of the flatware auctions I am listing this week are from my mother's huge collection of Strasbourg silver. One of the oldest and most popular patterns made by Gorham, especially prized by us Southerners. Every Southern girl knows the name of"her pattern" by grade school, and it is usually the same as her mother's. All of my auctions have ever only been owned by my family, and were used every day for every meal for as long as I can remember. To this day, my mother insists that everything tastes better when served on china with silver, and"real" napkins, even if its just for a piece of toast. After all these years, I have to admit ... moreshe was absolutely right. It certainly does bring an extra sense of grace to every day life. Thanks, Mom, and all the others like her out there reading this! She wisely rotated the pieces in this collection. There is no reserve on this fabulous pair(2) of original Art Deco Frankart Cocker Spaniel Dog metal bookends from San Francisco Estate- Signed. These cool bookends were made by Frankart Inc. New York, N.Y. Circa 1934. The Frankart products are original works of art conceived and designed in the Frankart Studio by Arthur von Frankenberg. These wonderful deco dogs have the unique flowing design of the Art Deco Era. They are made of some kind of metal with a gold finish- a magnet will not stick to them. The overall measurement is 7-1/4" long, 5-1/2" tall, and 3-1/2" wide. The condition is amazingly very good. One bookend is perfect, and the other bookend has two cracks(see picture) The good bookend has no chips, cracks, breaks or repairs. The smaller Owl measures approximately 10 1/2" tall x 5 1/4" wide at the widest part. They are both marked: SEXTON 1969 USA on the backside. I believe that they are made of Cast Aluminum. They do show lots of signs of age such as scratches. Scuffs and paint wear. There is some peeling paint, especially on the tops of their heads where a lot of the paint has peeled off. There is some rust on the hanging brackets but the brackets appear to be in secure condition. They also look like they could use some cleaning. THIS PAIR OF OWLS WILL LOOK GREAT HANGING TOGETHER ON ANY WALL! Most of my items come from local Estate Sales. Auctions, Flea Markets and Yard Sales and are in used, pre-owned vintage condition and usually show evidence of wear and age such as light scratches, scuffs, surface rust and dents/dings consistent with it's age and use. Here are 2 great Antique Victorian Trade Cards advertising Pearline Washing Compound. The first has a young girl dressed in a yellow and red dress with a white apron and bonnet holding a tray of purple grapes. The second is a young girl in a pink dress with a white apron and has a dove on her shoulder and roses in her hands. On the back of each it has James Pyle's Pearline Washing Compound and the info why this is better than any soap. Both cards are 2 5/8" wide by 4 1/4" tall. The first card has some light creases on the corners and a few very tiny stains on the bottom edge and one pin hole at the top. On the back there are some light stains on the right side. The second card has a long angle crease on the bottom left corner and one light crease on the bottom right corner. On the back. It's in good condition with just a ... morebit of normal paper age discoloration. I found these in a box with my Grandmother's cousins items and I know she was born sometime between the late 1870s to early 1880s and lived in Battle Creek. Iowa.
