Antique Akron Brass Fire Nozzle-Akro Ball Valve-1/2 inch Smooth Bore Tip
Akron Brass Fire Nozzle This is a wondeful brass fire nozzle manufactured by the Akron Brass Company. It has the Akro Ball shut off and a 1/2 inch tip. Marked Akron on the top with Wooster O on the bottom. On the back is the Akron ball stamp. The tip is marked with the 1/2 designation. The tip screws off to change tip sizes. Both the tip and the nozzle have the original seals and they look good. No dry rot. The nozzle functions properly with smooth opening and closing. No issues works great. The bale is nice and tight. It has been polished but not lacqured so you can give it another polish if you like. Its 8 inches tall and has the 1 1/2 thread size. Take a look at the many close up pictures to see the wonderful condition. I will ship it out in one or less days and pack it right. This nozzle is mated with the PRV but can be installed elsewhere in the line. We are not sure of the technical aspects of this valve. Without an item or model# locating any data sheets online would be difficult. The rubber gaskets look to be in good condition. We adjusted the pressure by removing the set screw, pulling the handle straight off the stem, removing the lock cap, reinstalled the adjustment handle on the stem, and turned accordingly. The mechanical components do move ... moresmoothly. The reinstallation of the handle and lock cap in reverse, 1 1/2" size. The fire nozzle spray pattern does have adjustment. Overall very good cosmetic and mechanical condition. Vintage ANTIQUE Bronze FIRE HOSE VALVE 3 inch POLISHED Demolition SALVAGE
Here is an awesome piece of American Industrial Art most likely from about the early 1900's. This antique fire hose valve was attached to the exterior of an old building in San Francisco California that was demolished in the 1960's. It is about 15 inches high by 6 inches across at the gates. And the handle is also about six inches across. This valve is AWESOME and needs someone to hang it on a beautiful piece of hardwood and hang it on their wall. A real fine example of the industrial product that the US produced, and which set the world standard for quality. I cannot find a maker's mark on it, but will keep looking. All questions gladly answered.
