Eimac 4X150D Socket + Chimney + General Electric Blower, 4CX250B
Up for sale is a 4CX250/ 4X150 socket/chimney on an enclosed drive circuit box with matching blower. The box includes two panel mounted air trimmer capacitors and some feed-through capacitors. The feed-through capacitors are cracked and should probably be replaced. The 4X150D with the anode connection clamp is included in the auction. The General Electric blower runs on 28Vdc and is in good working condition.

Motorola 8560AS Vacuum Tube Conduction Cooled 4CX250B
This tube looks new but I cannot sell it as such because I know nothing about it. As you can see it looks like it was never in a socket and there is no dirt or traces of heat sink compound anywhere. This has a 88 date code and is from about the time when the MICOR equipment was still in full swing. Motorola made many amplifiers that used these type of tubes. These tubes are the same inside as a 4CX250B with the exception of the cooling. I have new tubes still in sealed packages that will be in another auction. We are closing a tower location and all these tubes were from the same location. Tube will be packed with lots of padding to insure it will arrive as shipped.

Here we have a tested. Fine working Eimac 7203/ 4CX250B RF power terode amplifier tube. The 4CX250B is a ceramic/ metal forced-air cooled, external-anode radial-beam tetrode with a maximum plate dissipation rating of 250 watts and a maximum input-power rating of 500 watts. They are designed to operate with a heater voltage of 6.0 volts. This tube has been tested in an actual Dentron 6m amplifier for proper operation. Pride H.F Amplifier 80 -10 meter 4CX250B 400+ Watt excellent
Here's a linear amp made by Pride Electronics. This uses a single 4CX250B. With about 2200 volts on the anode. And it will easily give 450+(honest) watts ouput(600 W+) peak. This works really great with a QRP(under 5 watts) rig; it will give 20 dB + gain. The screen voltage isn't regulated on these amplifiers so the IMD products are only about 20 to 25 db down. If you keep the drive level down to about 2 watts or so on SSB it will give a pretty clean signal. Of course on CW this isn't an issue. This works fine on all(non-WARC) bands from 80 to 10 meters. This uses a broadly tuned grid circuit and the input SWR is very low. I did all of the testing with an IC-706M2G with a 7 db attenuator on its output. To protect the tube it is very important to use an attenuator on any driver with more than 5 watts or so output. The Icom 706 ... moreand many other rigs have a large(typ. 100 W) power spike before the power control feed back circuit(ALC) takes effect. Several important mods have been made to this. A"glitch resistor" has been added to reduce the chance of damage if a tube arcs over internally and the screen current LED has added protection. It's very important to load the amplifier sufficiently to avoid screen damage. The LED indicator works fine for this. I'll provide a spare 4CX250B that puts out around 450 Watts(CW) The receive preamp works but is hardly necessary. The cosmetic condition is very good to excellent.
