Antique Hendryx Fishing Reel- Pat. 1876& 1888- 80 yd- Nickel Plated Brass Up for bids is an antique Hendryx fishing reel. The foot has two patent dates.I believe that one reads"Pat. Mar 21. 1876" while the other appears to read"Pat. July? 1888" note that some of the numbers on the patent dates are hard to read but I believe that I have most of the numbers correct. The issues: Some of the nickel plating is worn off. There appears to be sticker residue on the side plate opposite the crank side. The reel does not crank smoothly and could likely use a fresh lubrication. There are two clicker type buttons(one on each side) I'm uncertain of the function of each but the one on the none crank side appears to be a clicker button while the one on the crank side might be a drag increase button.not sure though if that is correct ... moreor if either button is working the way that it should. Over the next couple of weeks I will be listing loads of lace items. All were given to me 40 years ago by a 90 year old woman. Who has worked as a seamstress in London from the age of 10 years old! so the pieces I have are from about 1886 onwards. Nonw of the lace[this piece or any I will be offering] has a musty smell, but it does need washing to remove yellowing from age. I used many of the pieces I had in dressing antique dolls that I had either collected or reproduced myself. Unfortunately my hands and eyes don't enjoy doing such fine work anymore. So it's time to stop hoarding! As I am not a lace'buff' I will try to do my best in naming them. But could very well get it wrong. I much prefer to let the pictures speak for themselves. When I know a piece has faults I will mention them as well as showing them in the pictures. ... moreOK. I'll be honest and tell you that I got the information on this lace by going through all the other laces on sale and finding one very similar! Having said that, I have to be honest and tell you that I personally cannot tell the difference between hand made and machine made when it is this old. To me, it does look handmade but I'm no expert. This is a Royal Petticoats of Orlando Florida Square Dance Petticoat Skirt. Retail on similar is $170. Never worn. I have had this packed away in a closet since it was purchased for me. The colors are deep and vibrant. There are three layers with lots of ruffles, hook and eye back closure. Hooked and closed the waist measures 8inches. Hooked/closed and expanded measured right to left- 19 inches. I wear a size L. Or 12 and am modeling the skirt in the photo. From the tag notes I believe this to be a 100 yard skirt/petticoat. AEF 26th Yankee Division Painted YD OD Combat Helmet w Liner British Model D/04
This listing represents a first for me. Here you have a painted WWI British Model Helmet issued to a member of the American Expeditionary Forces. 26th Yankee Division. The Doughboy's OD Helmet features a painted YD to the front. The helmet is complete with liner and chisntrap. The helmet has the OD Green, Pebbled Combat Paint with dabs of paint that could be construed as a crude attempt at camouflage. The British Model Helmet is stamped D/04. The interior retains the felt padding. The British rubber donut ring to the crown, and a very dry leather liner. The leather is stiff and delicate, so please be careful. The chinstrap is present and intact with the buckle. The strap is buckled. It is dry and crazed and, again, must be handled carefully. The crown retains the brass rivet and features a pebbled combat paint finish with what I believe ... moreare dabs of a different color similar to mud or earth. The pebbled finish was achieved by mixing sand with paint. There are no gouges and the rim is in place with about three inches of separation. There are a series of dents to the crown. There is normal rust to the exterior and interior. The swivel bales are nicely intact as is the liner. To the front of the helmet are the capital letters YD for the 26th Yankee Division. The YD is subdued and faded but can definitely be made out. Also the helmet is a good size and fits my 7 1/4 cap size head. The photographs with my hand holding the helmet has created an optical illusion. Something that has happened when I have photographed caps and helmets while holding them. Rest assured, it is a normal, full size World War I Combat Helmet. Under the command of Colonel Edward Logan. The 101st Infantry of the Yankee Division was the first National Guard outfit to enter the lines in France during World War I. The 101st launched the first raid against the Germans by American Troops. It was the first attack supported by American Artillery. Black end cap, black knob marked on base plate Hendryx patent date July 10, 1888, the reel is in working order and good condition, minor wear to the silver finish 2" diameter, the next is a sweetie, it is the brass body raised pillar, 60 yard, s ame markings on base and is in good working order. Very mi nor wear to the knob. 2.25" diameter including pillar, with a nice polish she is a beauty, and the final is an 80 y ard reel I believe it too may be brass. Here you have a membership pin for the Sons and Daughters of the YD and Belleau Wood. The pin is in outstanding condition. The pin has an enamel face with gold lettering along with the French and US Flags. There is a YD in the center. The pin was crafted by a Boston Badge Company( I can not make out the first one or two letters of the maker’s name) The medal is exquisitely crafted. There is an early pin back mechanism on the reverse. The pin measures approximately.8 inches in diameter.
