1950s Danelectro Airline 8436 tube guitar amp 6V6/6X5/6SJ7 harp amplifier NR
1950s Danelectro-made Airline amp. Model 8436. Tubes are 6V^ power, 6X5 rectifier, 6SJ7 preamp. Two inputs, tone and volume controls. I realized after I bought it that the 12” alnico speaker in the amp is not original. And apparently the amp originally had an 8” This wouldn’t be too hard to restore as the baffle is just Masonite and shouldn’t be a problem to make a repro. Amp works well and sounds good; I’m not much of a player but the guy I bought it from has played since the 1960s and was getting some good blues tone out of the amp. Probably three or four watts. I tested all the tubes last week. The 6X5 and 6V6 peaked the meter but the 6SJ7 was only reading@70% so I found a used one in my stuff that tested over 90% and that helped the volume. Amp has hardly any noise even when sitting idling at full volume. The cord is original but insulation ... morehas many tiny cracks– I taped the worst place– probably should be replaced if you plan to play the amp regularly but I didn’t want to make the decision on replacing the original as the buyer might see it differently. Amp shows some use/age. The handle is unbroken but should not be used to lift the amp as it’s weak. A replacement handle would be easy to install as the brackets have screws. Not rivets. The volume pot had one side of the split shaft broken and I replaced it with a solid shaft pot of the correct value. Which was the closest match I had. The original knobs were gone when I got it so I put on pointers. Chassis at bottom is slightly bent in around fuse holder where the fuse holder must have banged into something. While I had it apart I cleaned pots and tube sockets with DeOxit D5. Control panel is clean. Grille in good condition. The white vinyl is nice except the top has 4 small cuts– like somebody dug their fingernails into it but too deep to be that– and back top has 3 cigarette burns. Has all four feet. Tube Amp Power Supply - 6L6 5U4 6X5 6SJ7 OA3 Tubes - Oil Cap
I have what appears to be a homemade tube amp power supply. The tubes all test good on my AI 257 tester- but I have not plugged it in or turned it on so. The tubes are two 6L6GA's- one each 6X5- 6SJ7- OA3 and 5U4. There's a large oil capacitor that looks like a 10 MFD but it's been painted over black so I can't be sure. If anyone has seen something like this or has a schematic please let me know. Tha nks

You are bidding on a vintage vacuum tube kit mono channel Pre Amplifier that contains three tubes and other 1960s period electronic components. This Pre Amp kit contains three tubes: 1) RCA Red Metal Can type 5693 tube(2) Westinghouse Metal Can type 6SJ7 tube and(3) General Electric Metal Can type 6SJ7 tube. These are socketed in two white ceramic and one black resin(or plastic? tube sockets. This Pre Amp unit appears to be electrically complete. I can see ten vintage PINEX capacitors rated at 600 V in the chassis. There is also a good quality push on/off switch like those used in guitar effect pedals. You could part this chassis out for these capacitors. Tubes and sockets which are popular for the repair of vintage radio, hi-fi/guitar amps, effects units and other tube gear. This unit was designed to act as an input source selector choosing ... morefrom Phono. Tape and two AUX channels. There is a Volume control and controls for Bass and Treble. Soldering quality in kits can vary greatly; this one appears to have been put together by a skilled person. I have had this for 20+ years and originally received it from the estate of an audio enthusiast. I do not have the companion power supply so I have no way of testing this equipment. As this unit has been stored for decades and I have not seen or even attempted to power it up. I am describing the condition as“For Parts or Not Working” I do not have a schematic and I can not determine the kit manufacturer. See photos for condition of the metal chassis. The paint is missing in spots. There are scratches, some residue from an adhesive label and it has some extra holes. Up for sale is another vacuum tube Guitar or Microphone Pre-Amplifier in excellent condition. These were purchased form a recording studio near Detroit. MI. This is an exact clone of the first Fender 5C1"Champ" from 1954 and very similar to the Gibson GA-5"Les Paul" from about the same era. It uses a 6SJ7 vacuum tube and sounds fabulous. I think much warmer than the 12AX7 versions! The 6SJ7 tube is an older version from the 1950's and has very good gain(tested 100% This can be used with any amplifier with a"line" input for conversion to microphone or guitar or may be used as a booster on a standard guitar amp. Great gain with very warm, clean audio output and low noise like the typical old 1950's sound. Super heavy duty shielded all steel construction.
