These were printed by J.B. Cooke until May 1918 then by T.S. Harrison through to October 1920. They were used as the 2nd weight-step rate within Australia and the British Empire(up to 27 October 1918) There were three printings made from Plates 1/2 and a further four printings from Plates 2/3 totalling 28.560,000 stamps. This particular 2d Kangaroo located at 2R34. The 1x4 style has a ROUND SHANK, no scarf, with a short notch at the top which goes down about 1.46 mm. The top of the eye hole is at 39.3 mm and overall length is approx 45.4+- mm( 1.75" The 1X4 style needles fit some models of old/antique sewing machine(including the vibrating shuttle/bullet-bobbin types) with brand names such as New Domestic. Biscuit boxes of this quality rarely appear on the market, especially of this size and in perfect condition, and by the highly sought-after silversmiths, Walker& Hall. Here's a first-day cover for the 20c Transpacific Air Mail stamp of 1937. Scott no. C21. The cover bears a scarce cachet by Top Notch, which varies from Planty no. 26 in that it has a different border(airplanes and pyramids, rather than lozenges) and inscription(Trans-Pacific First Contract Flight" instead of"Trans-Pacific Air Mail Flight" and"First Day of Issue or First Flight as Designated" instead of"First Day of Issue or First Flight 1937" Even though the cachet was intended for the first flight, which occurred on April 21, 1937, it was actually used for the first day of issue of the stamp, more than two months earlier.
