This listing is the glass for a whisk broom holder. If you have the brass holder but the glass piece has long ago been broken. Here is the perfect glass piece for it. The piece is marked with the wavecrest logo. It has a white back ground with the raised decorative relief. The floral decorations are in colors of blues, lilac, burgandy and tans with white overpainting. Measuring 4.50 end to end. The outside diameter opening(which would fit in the holder portion) for the wide end is 4 1/8"x 2.25" while the narrow end 3.50"x 2 1/8" Wavecrest was produced as an opal glass blank and was decorated after. This glassware was called"Opal Ware" and was at the height of popularity from 1890-1910. Mt Washington Blue Griffins Cameo Brides Bowl Silver Plated Holder Quadruplate
This auction is for a wonderful example of Mt Washington cameo. The bride's bowl shape shows the work to the best advantage. The blue is the rarest color and the griffin decoration is the most desirable. Condition of the bowl is excellent with no nicks or chips. The bowl is about 8.5 inches square on each side and it measures about 3.75 inches in diameter at the base ring. The overall height of the holder is 12.25 inches. The holder is quite lovely and fits the bowl perfectly. NOW LET US EXPLAIN the holder. When we bought the bowl it was sitting in just the base of the holder with the handle missing. We were able to find another holder with a great handle and we are fortunate to have a skilled silversmith. He was able to cut the handle from the acquired holder and fit it into the Toronto Quadruplate base that we love. You can see the ... moresquirrels and woodland florals that make this a special base and additionally, it fits the cameo bowl so well. The silversmith did find that the holes were larger than the wires and he had to infill a bit around the wires. Mt Vernon features many rows of hobnails all over large areas of the pieces. In this case the hobnails are on the crystal cylindrical bowl where you would have put a few cigarettes on your coffee table. Nowadays these are often used as a posy vase or toothpick holder. The stem is the hobnailed ball of the 1066(or Aurora) line. The footed dish is 4 1/2" tall and the base is 3 3/4" wide. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks or cloudiness. Up for auction is this beautifully enameled Mt. Washington era Pink Opalescent Salt& Pepper Shaker Set in a Silver Plated Stand made by Wilcox Silver Plate CO# 3864. The exteriors of the shakers are decorated with delicately enameled white and blue floral sprays. The total height of the shakers in the stand is 5" The shakers stand almost 2 1/2" high. The glass is in very good condition with no nicks. Cracks or flea bites. The silver plated stand and lids are also in very good condition with no loss to the silver plate. Rare 1940s Thorens Switzerland Wall Mt Music Box Toilet Paper Holder Blue Danube We travelled an hour and a half South into central Illinois for a football game this week. And I took the opportunity of going treasure hunting in the cornfields. I found a surprising variety– there’s something for everyone this week! See. I told you I had a variety! This one is for all of my music box customers, or for anyone who loves items rare and wacky! It's a vintage 1940s wall mount wall paper holder that really is in excellent condition. Oh, but that's not all! If you want a little entertainment while.doing your thing.this one is for you too! It also does double dooty(pun intended! as a music box. Turn it over, and you see that there's the music box, attached to the back, and with its original label that reads, Thorens, Tannhauser Marsch, ... moreBlaue Donau Walzer Made in Switzerland. It also has its original hand pencil written price on the tag that reads, DM 35= $8.35. I'm guessing this was bought in Germany( and the DM standing for Deutschmarks( There's a round loop on the back for hanging on the wall. Oh, just noticed there's another hand pencil written mark on the backside on top- it looks like 2106. On the front is the turn handle for the music box- it works great- playing the Blue Danube Waltxe. The piece is made of wood, both the front piece, and the box for the music box at the back. The front piece is painted a creamy white that almost looks very light yellow in some lights, and at the top is the stenciled image of a mother and baby duck in black. The hardware is unpainted steel, which includes the brackets holding the wood dowel for the paper roll. Oddly the dowel has 4 rounded tin wire pieces that come out of it- I guess to keep the roll of tp from rolling- it will be secure, for sure. The dowel should fit standard tp- as it measures a smidge over 5 1/4" wide and is 7/8" diameter and there's 2" of space between the dowel and the backpiece. My store bought roll of tp is 4" w
