precise toolpost grinder for lathe tool post
This is an old toolpost grinder from an estate. I plugged it in for about 1 second to hear it spin up then unplugged it and did that again 5 or 6 times just to ensure that it spins up. The reason I didn't run it any longer than a second or two at a time is to avoid damaging the bearings. This thing probably hasn't been run in 30 years and the bearings need to be lubed with fresh high speed bearing lube(this is a 40.000 rpm motor) This is not a sealed bearing unit as newer motors are.it is old style where you lube the bearings after something like 40 hours of use. The box contains the necessary wrenches for the grinder including a collet spanner wrench. It also includes the lathe toolpost adapter to hold the grinder in the toolpost. It also includes a very small(looks like an eighth inch) collet accessory and another clamp type device ... morewhich I have no info about. There is also quite a bit of paperwork(instruction manual, etc) and a special"lube gun" which has the special high speed lube still in it, however, I wouldn't use the lube in the gun at all.it's probably as old as the grinder. The grinder itself has two cracks in the plastic housing(rear housing) which seem to be stable(you can't flex them at all) and have absolutely no effect on the motor that I can tell, and if you were concerned about those cracks, I would just put a screw type hose clamp around that part of the housing for added support. The cord has some tape on it near the plug where someone has repaired it, and the strain relief for the power core needs to be replaced as the rubber has deteriorated and come apart at the body of the motor. The box itself is steel and undamaged(perfectly functional) but the finish is rough.kinda rusty looking with no paint left on it. If you lube it up properly, it should make a good toolpost grinder. This auction is for an Unknown quick change tool post and five holders. It lacks the post and t-nut. The winning bidder will need to come up with or make their own T nut and post. The tool post block that sits on the compound slide to the underside of the handle measures 2.25" There are 5 tool holders with the set. A cut-off tool holder. Two other conventional tool holders, boring holder and a combo tool holder w/ conventional on one side and knurling tool on other(two knurls on it) The tool holders are interchangeable to either position although the tool holder for the cut-off tool should always be used in the left side position. Excellent Condition- Original rocker type tool post tool holder for an Atlas 10" or Craftsman 12" lathe. Tool post base measures 1 1/2" x 1" x 5/16" Stands 3 1/2" to the shoulder. Tool post diameter is 1" Interior dimensions are 7/16" x 1 1/2" with rocker in place. Bolt is removable from body. Not compressed as is often seen. In excellent condition, as shown. Tool post holder with infeed - lathe, shaper, mill etc?
For sale is a tool post holder of some sort. It came in a lot of stuff my Dad picked up- I have no ide what it fits. It has an infeed on it. The"T" slot is 1" wide at the top and 1-1/2" wide at the bottom. Please look at the picture closely as these are a big part of the description and ask me any questions before bidding.
