Pennsylvania Railroad's Enola Yard has 192 tracks that can hold a total of 12,888 cars including intact coal trains of up to 144 cars. Trains enter a receiving yard, their engines and cabooses are removed and then their entire consist is pushed ahead over the hump and the cars shuffled into new trains. The engine terminal is the heart of Enola with about 100 road engines, 50 switchers and 10 shop locomotives being serviced during any 24-hour period. Vintage hand carved Me 163 Komet rocket fighter, caricature model.
This is one of a group of planes found in a Mayflower storage unit in upstate New York in the 90's. They were all scratch built models made of either pine or hardwood. They are really caricature models with certain features being exaggerated. All are very detailed with inscribed ailerons. Cockpit details, flaps, rudder, etc. Approx 5 inch wingspan. When found, many of these models had parts separated because of the use of a very poor quality casein glue. This is one of the ones that survived intact. Almost like a comic strip plane. This one is missing the radio antennae. Great impression of the Me 162 Komet rocket fighter. Email any questions. I have one more of this model but basically this is a one of a kind.
