Vintage PRO Bach Stradavarius Large Bore Model 25 with Bach case and mouthpiece
NICE Bach Strad PRO model Large bore with a 25 bell that is a real silver beauty! This horn is a PLAYER and a LOOKER! This is a great trumpet and a top-quality Pro instrument made by one of the biggest music names in the world. Made by Bach-Selmer. And designed by Vincent Bach, this is a 180L-25 model trumpet. The serial number is 207994, which dates the horn to about 1981. The body has the nice original silver plate finish with a few small dings and ripples from old dent removal. Bach Strad trumpets are the standard in pro horns and are always in demand since they always have wonderful clear tones and are easy blowing. This trumpet was sonic cleaned and polished and then was re-built with new corks, felts, and the valves were adjusted. The result is this Strad is very nice playing as I have played this horn while I was doing the work on ... moreit(Melanie said I sound great on this horn, lol, as always) It plays full and with ease in all registers. This Strad is a large.462” bore with a 25 lead pipe and bell. It takes a bit more air than the ML version but the sound can be a lot more focused and full. It has a slightly tighter bell than the 37 so the projection is superb! It's in great mechanical condition- all the tuning slides work smoothly, including the first and third which are usually frozen and require some kind of repair. With the sonic clean and scrub and then re-assembly with a new valve alignment, it plays fantastic. There are no missing pull tabs(rare for a used horn) and the slides have no dings. The previous owner had an Amado key installed on the tuning slide because he felt it helped the air flow. I added new“O” rings to quiet the first and third valve slides. The Monel valves work freely and smoothly and return back into place with ease. The valves have new felts on the tops and inside. The valves have very slight wear and they are fast and have good seal. They also have brass guides that most pro players prefer. Vintage King Silver Sonic trombone w/ F trigger and L bore
Up for auction is a very nice King Silver Sonic trombone. It is a large bore horn at.547 It has an F trigger. There is a numerical stamp on the bottom of the rotor that is 212. This number is on the rotor and the rotor bearing and on the rotor stop arm. So it seems this is a matching numbers horn. NO pitting on the rotor either. I stripped the lacquer off the bell because the lacquer was pitted and polished the bell. As most of you know this is a Sterling silver bell. Gold washed on the inside. I did not remove the remaining lacquer off the gold washing to preserve the gold plating. There is some gold loss around the edge of the bell. But this could be restored as a stand alone effort at Andersons. They could simply re-gold wash the bell without disturbing any other aspect of the horn. The hand hold area on the slide is pitted from years ... moreof use. Likely acidic skin combined with plenty of rings on the fingers. The lacquer on the bells' tubing is original. There is a minor amount of lacquer loss on the tuning slide where a small dent was repaired. The slide is fast and slick. It was considerably more worked over than the bell half of the horn. The two braces in the hand hold areas were replaced. One was completely pitted through. The new ones are new nickel stock from Allied. The main slide crook is new, but this is the original spit valve. It too, was from Allied. This slide works very well, and this service alone would probably cost 200 or more easy. The horn comes with the original gator case. It has some wear and material loss around the edges but the majority of the gator skin is very, very good. The mouthpiece was probably gold plated when new, but has some plating loss. It is a 50B in the original box. This horn was loved and played for a long time. The serial number is 426,xxx with dates it to the mid 60's. This is tricky because this is the transition to the Eastlake Ohio facility. It does not say 3B or 4B or 5B. It only says Silver Sonic and it is a Cleveland Ohio horn, predating Eastlake. Craig a
