Fine Antique 18th Century American New England Sack Back Windsor Side Arm Chair
Click for a slideshow of detailed pictures! Fine American Sack Back Windsor Arm Chair New England. Possibly Rhode Island c. 1790-1810 Item# 110012ERE02 This is a gorgeous piece with a fine oiled patina. The plank seat is a single solid board of chestnut. Carved for comfort and oval in form with a thin channel along the back outlining the gallery of spindles. A crack is growing along, stopped from the underside with a butterfly dovetail joint. Remnants of a green paint over a milky white paint are visible on the underside of the chair, the white almost certainly being the original color for this chair. The steam bent crest rail wraps around the middle seven spindles, each of which tenon through the crest and poke over the top, before completing on either side in a square tenon through the arm rail. The arm rail is hickory with gorgeous worn ... moregrains, chamfered along the sides with the short spindles and turned red oak arm supports on either side tenoned through and pinned at the top with a split-wedge tenon. The turned red oak arm supports join through the seat. It rests over four ring baluster turned legs with an H-form stretcher. It has a glowing warm patina and outstanding form. Due to it's delicate nature and somewhat loose joints. We would recommend it only for light use and primarily to complete one's collection rather than for functional purposes. If the joints are reglued it would be absolutely suited for careful functional use. Measurements: 22" wide at feet x 22 1/2" total depth(approximate) 15" of depth from front foot to rear foot; 17 1/8" high to seat; 35 5/8" high to crest rail Condition Report: Visually Outstanding Condition Right arm with patch at first spindle. Left arm first spindle with loss from an old split. Little splatters of white paint. Not part of the original finish. Joints slightly loose throughout- without restoration to firm the joints, it should not be used functionally unless it is used very carefully. Seat split repaired with dovetail butterfly joint.

Description: This listing is for a late 18th to early 19th Century Bowback Painted Windsor Side Chair. Probably Pennsylvania circa 1790-1810. It has a wonderful black paint over another layer of reddish orange, probably also a layer over the original and currently unknown color. The bow back floats with perfect grace, carefully grasping each through-tenoned splinted spindle before diving through the single solid plank pine seat. The seat is heavily patinated, with deep grooves and wear from decades of active use. The wood is difficult to confirm, but by the style and others of similar craft the make up is likely elm and ash. The entire chair sits over four splayed bamboo carved legs, all four of which tenon through the plank ... moreseat before being secured with a splint, each held firmly and perfectly in place with a bamboo carved H-stretcher. This is a most charming chair, in excellent condition with wonderful patina and character throughout, still preserved in its original state beneath layers of protective paint. Measurements: Seat 13.5" wide x 14.5" deep. The seat sits 16" from the ground and the back of the seat is 33.5" high. Condition: Visually Outstanding Condition- These notes on condition are to guide your review of the images below. Though much of it adds to the character of the piece and does not detract. Paint worn throughout. Deep groves and losses in the plank seat. Chips and abrasions throughout. One nail, appears to be modern, on side of chair stabalizing hoop back. But based on my research this chair likely was made by a Philadelphia furniture maker in the late 1700's. The chair was painted over the years in at least three different colors: greenish blue. Dark red and black. The wear on the chair shows varying degrees of the three colors, with black and red predominating. Old staple holes in the sides and bottom of the hand-planed seat indicate the likelihood that the seat was covered at one time. There is a vertical zigzag surface crack at the back of the bow, as well as a split in the top, as shown in the photos. There is a very slight wiggle where the spindles are attached to the seat, but otherwise the chair's joints are ... moretight. Please study the pictures for complete condition information. I have to set this on the floor and see if the back is still uneven. Cause it sure looks like it is in the photo, but I never noticed it before. I knew this chair was something when my crappy friend Shirley kept trying to get it off of me. Believe it may have been handmade and you can see that it was once painted cause there is a bit of the old milk paint remaining where they were unable to remove it from the coarse ends. Measures 18 inches tall to the top of the back rail, 10 inches tall to the top of the seat and 10 wide at the widest point of the seat. It is 12 inches wide at the to horizontal rail. Very good condition made with hardwood that has been worn down to a beautiful patina. There is one slight hairline in the seat just where the wood has dried out over the years, but the seat is very thick as you can see so is not going anywhere ... morefast. Vintage Montgomery Ward Treadle Windsor B Sewing Book& Greist Attachments w/case
This auction is for a Montgomery Ward's"Winsor B" treadle sewing machine book. Extra feet, plus the Griest attachments in metal case that was with the treadle machine. The booklet is in good condition, the front cover is very good and the back cover shows a little wear, but very readable. Page seven is torn and page 10 has been taped at some point. The two pages on the inside are loose from the staple and page 18 and 19 were added probably after it was orginally printed. There is no fading of the pages, some yellowing, but everything can be read very clearly, kind of remarkable for age of the book. The feet are in good shape with very little rust anywhere. Vintage gentlemen's hat mold, bowler hat mold, hat mold, English Windsor
This is a vintage gentlemen's hat mold. I am selling this hat form in good vintage used condition. As shown in the picture there is a drop of what paint on the top of the hat which really doesn't have anything to do with the forming of a hat. It states on the bottom of the form 5 1/4 6 with 3 over 4#8020R. In picture number 8 you can see some damage to the wood. Which again will do nothing in the forming of a hat. I beleive this mold to be a bowler hat form, please correct me if I'm wrong. This is a great vintage piece and would make a great addition to your collection or just to have as a decoration in your home. This is as vintage as vintage gets ladies and gentlemen and you can just imagine by looking at it the year of many people purchasing hats made from this form. Vintage Lot Spectacles Windsor Prince Nez Scrap Wear Gold Filled 12K ESTATE
Here I have 4 pair of vintage eyeglass spectacles that belonged to my late great aunt and uncles estates. This listing includes exactly what is shown in the photos attached here. I dont know anything about these except for what I can see. The cases are included too. 3 of the pairs are probably in need of repair as 2 of them have a broken ear piece(the windsor that is broken has the earpiece still with it) but the other pair is missing just the curved part that goes around the ear. The Prince Nez ones are all there I think but look like they may have been repaired around the lens at some point. The black windsor pair look pretty darn good to me as I dont see anything missing or broken the only thing is normal age wear and they even look pretty darn good for that. Ive attached photos here clear enough for you to see the markings that I could ... moresee. Black colored windsor bridge says 1/10 12K tortoise colored windsor bridge says Riggs- Shell 1/10 12K older thin specs with broken off 1/2 earpiecs bridge says DEFI they do look like gold but i didnt see another mark. not saying there isnt another mark. I just didnt see one. Prince Nez on the clip thing that the chain can attach to is marked 10. I dont know if that means they are 10k gold or not but they are at least gold tone.
