VINTAGE YEW JAPANESE ELECTRONIC TEST EQUIPMENT METERS I have not been able to determine an exact date for these pieces. But they appear to be mid century and possibly WWII era but again I can not confirm that. They were made by YEW(Yokogawa Electric Works) in Japan and the Volt/Amp meter has Japanese characters on the meter face. For the Volt/Amp meter. The meter movement is metal/glass and the base is made of a plastic or celluloid material. I did touch a battery to it and the amp meter portion will move the needle and appears to be functioning, but I did not get the volt meter section to work. It may be I did not connect it correctly or it needs a little tinkering to it but the meter movement itself appears to be in good condition. It has a model no. 31 written on it and measures 4.5" x 4.5" and weighs about 1 pound. For the Ohmmeter. ... moreI do not have a way to test it as ohmmeters require batteries and there are some leads inside the unit for connection a battery but I have no idea of what kind. It looks to be made of solid brass or copper and is a heavy piece. The meter movement looks good and is not frozen and there are two screw terminals at the bottom. The meter face says it is model 125 and it measures about 6" long and about 2.5" wide and weighs well over 1 pound. Together they make a really nice collection of vintage Japanese made mid century era electronic test equipment. I included photos with an old buffalo nickel to aid as a size reference and the nickel will be included with the items. Up for auction is the most unusual piece of test equipment that I’ve ever seen! I’ve never seen anything like it. I purchased it at an estate sale and I know nothing about it. It is a“Triplett” Model 2450 Test Meter which actually has SEE-THROUGH SIDES with various tubes. Parts, etc. being labelled using red-lettering on the sides. You have to see it to believe it(totally cool looking! Vintage wooden box veterinary mastitis test kit equipment dairy farm
The box is basically a wooden block with holes drilled for the test tubes and chemical(thybromol) additive. There is a clasp on each end to secure the two halves of the block. A couple wooden pegs ensure that it is lined up properly to secure. The 4 test tubes have etched areas to write on and a line for level. There is a red manufacturer decal on one side. The instructions note that it was made by Haver-Glover labs of Kansas City. Missouri. I always that KC was more of a beef than milk town. This would be a great collectable for a dairy farmer or vet. Condition: The box finish is worn and has some chips on the bottom. The thybromol bottles are missing. Glass tubes have no chips or cracks; still have some dirt in the bottom. Rider RCA Chanalyst, Vintage Test Equipment. Works Well! 1945.
This a RCA- Rider"Chanalyst" vintage. Multi-channel electronics tester made in the U. S. of A. it is date stamped 1945. This tester was a high-tech tester in its time that could be used to quickly find faults with a radio circuit by substituting known good circuits(in the Chanalyst) for the suspect section is the item being repaired and thereby quickly isolating the problem to one section of the radio being tested. Since the Chanalyst has radio RF/IF and amplifier circuits built in, it can also be connected to make a working radio, thus verifying the circuits are operating properly. This particular unit has properly operating RF/IF sections, AF pre-amp, Watt-meter and Voltmeter sections. I don't have a way to test the RF oscillator, so I don't know if it works or not. For the sake of completeness, let's say it does not ... morework(which will be a nice surprise if it does! This tester has been well care for during its 69 years, with only minor dents/dings/scratches/areas of wear. The cabinet had just been repainted when I received it and the rubber feet replaced. The electrolytic capacitors in the power supply and the AC power cord have been replaced and the controls and switches cleaned also. This Chanalyst has been internally"moisture and fungus treated, June 1945" probably due to U.S. military use in tropical or damp locations(as a result the chassis and inner works are glossy and yellow) There are no cables or other equipment included, but it uses standard 1/4" jacks, so cables could be easily made for whatever purposes you desire to use it. All four of the 6E5 tuning-eye tubes are good, and are quite bright. All the pictures were taken in a brightly lit room, and the eye tubes are viewable. I an including one jumper to connect"RF/IF out" and"AF in" jacks(see picture#12) which allows the unit to be used as an AM radio when an antenna is connected to the RF IN jack and the AF output jack is connected to an amplifier and speakers or a headphone. Up for grabs is a vintage Heathkit LP-1 Linearity Pattern Generator for television repair from the tube era. Physical condition is okay. There are a couple of scuff marks on the front as you can see in the pictures. A couple of the control knobs have marred places on them. No dents or gouges. Does not look to be abused. This item came from a radio-tv repair shop. It includes the test lead with the big aligator clip. I did fire this up with a variac and it lights up. HOWEVER, I have no way of testing it.
