I purchased this brand of solar panel to charge my iPhone and my R/C plane batteries. But it wasn't able to charge my iPhone battery because the amperage was too low for the iPhone. It was however, able to charge my 3.7 volt li-po batteries very nicely. The raw voltage output is around 6.05 volts in direct sunlight and the amperage level was around 0.3-0.5 depends on what you're charging I believe. I thought it would help by linking the two solar panels to increase the amperage. But it hardly improved at all. The white surface is foam and I hot glued the panels to it. It is removeable if you work around it, but the hot glue will be a pain to get off. I think there is a solution you can buy online that will help dissolve hot glue away. It does need a voltage regulator which mine broke which is the reason why I'm selling this. Also ... moreI want to upgrade and buy a down converter. So this is for anyone interested in getting into the world of green energy. It picks up sunlight very well even through windows. Granted, the more exposure you have the voltage you'll be making. The panel does get hot outside, so don't leave it unattended for too long. I recommend wrapping up the device you're charging with aluminum foil to reflect the sun's rays to prevent it from getting overheated. It works like a charm for me when I was charging batteries in direct sun light for several hours. You will need a voltage/amperage meter which is cheap to buy online if you look right. If someone, an animal, or an object blocks the sunlight of the solar panel, you will need to reset the plug, but that could of just been my voltage tester and/or my usb power converter. This is a 12V nominal solar PV panel that was used for 6 months in the field to keep anemometer sensors running. It can be used in a wide variety of charging systems. It has 4 mounting screws and is well encased in resin to protect it from the elements. The 5-watt photovoltaic panel mounts easily to shelter boxes and was designed for charging 12V battery systems. It does a very good job delivering battery-charge power levels in low-light situations. The panel also has a built in blocking diode and a 3 foot UV resistant cable. It would be good for keeping remote batteries trickle charged.
