Antique G.E. Astronomic Time Switch for City of New York, 1958
The Vintage Technology Association offers the following information about timers such as this: Back in the hallowed days of our transistor-anemic past. Turning light bulbs on and off at preset times was a seriously complicated task- so much so that when the City of New York was hard-up for a way to control its streetlights automatically, they made the dubious decision to mount metal-clad Telechron clocks to every streetcorner. These devices, manufactured by General Electric, were encased in a heavy vandal-resistant cast case and have a complex internal mechanism that implements a 365 day calendar and automatic daylight compensation. The metal pins that operate the time switch are mounted to a pair of rotating levers that move independently of the main dial. These levers are positioned by a 364 tooth calendar gear that completes one rotation ... morerelative to the main dial every year, allowing the switch to automatically match the operating time of the streetlamp to the length of the day. There are two dates stamped inside the cover- the most legible one reads"April 8. 1958" Most likely it was an inspection date. Adlake Railroad Switch Lamp. A collectable needing some TLC and your time.
Offered is an old Adlake switch lamp that has seen better days. After a little sandblasting and paint. It could be brought back to life. The connector sleeve on the bottom has the number 25857 on it and it's broken, but still in good enough condition to fit over the switch shaft. The lens fasteners are included, along with four 5 1/4" lenses, not necessarily original equipment, but good enough to use in restoration. Two of the lenses are actually metal plates painted yellow(need repainting) and two of the other lenses are plastic(Stimsonite) green reflectors(new) Both fit the openings as I've shown in the photos. I've provided photos of all four sides, top and bottom of the lamp, the lens fasteners, and front and back side of the lens covers. Thanks for your interest.

Up for sale is a Old Vintage Steampunk Time Switch Gauge by L.R. Teeple Company out of Portland Oregon. I think this was an old gauge for a boiler. But I'm not exactly sure. The time switch is affixed to a metal electrical box/enclosure. This time switch is UNTESTED. The gauge measures 8 3/4" in total height(including the metal box) Just the gauge itself is 6 5/8" wide in diameter& 3 1/2" thick. It measures approximately 4.6 pounds. It's a very heavy, industrial looking gauge. The glass has no cracks or chips but it's very dirty& has what appears to be a layer of film or dirt on it and it needs a good cleaning. The backside has some sort of paint or residue on it; overall the items shows wear such as dirt, discoloration, scratches, marks etc. Very nice steampunk collectible.
